US To Iceland Travel Restrictions, Flights News & Travel Ban In 2021 – Advisory & Requirements

Iceland: Open for Travel

Travel is allowed with restrictions
Travelers from selected countries are allowed to enter Iceland. Please check the documentation, quarantine, and/or testing requirements before traveling.

Quarantine-Free

No quarantine required for vaccinated travelers
Travelers who are fully vaccinated are not required to quarantine on arrival in Iceland.

COVID-19 test required

Mandatory COVID-19 test on arrival required for vaccinated travelers
Fully vaccinated travelers who are Icelandic citizens, residents, students, and work permit holders/applicants must take a COVID-19 PCR test a maximum of 48 hours after arrival in Iceland.

Details and Exemptions:This requirement does not apply to:
-Holders of proof of a previous COVID-19 infection that meets all requirements must have a positive COVID-19 test result. The test has to be at least 14 days old and no more than 180 days old;
-Travelers who are not Icelandic citizens, residents, students, and work permit holders/applicants.

Masks are required

Masks are mandatory indoors
Travelers must wear face masks indoors and where it is not possible to maintain the 1-meter rule.

Details and Exemptions:This requirement does not apply to:
-Children born in 2006 and later.

Required Documents for your Trip

Mandatory proof of vaccination
Vaccinated travelers must have a vaccination certificate showing that 14 days have passed from their second vaccine dose (Pfizer, AstraZeneca, Moderna, Sinopharm, Sinovac-Coronavac), or 14 days from Johnson & Johnson (Janssen) vaccine.

Travelers unable to present a valid certificate may be required to comply with rules for unvaccinated travelers.

Travelers with access to the EU Digital Certificate may use it to present proof.

If different vaccines are used for the first and second dose, the minimum interval for the first vaccine administered must be observed for the vaccination to be considered complete.

Proof of negative COVID-19 test results for vaccinated travelers
Fully vaccinated travelers and travelers with proof of previous COVID-19 infection must have a negative COVID-19 PCR or antigen test result. The test must be taken a maximum of 72 hours before departure, on the first leg of the trip.

The results must be in Icelandic, Norwegian, Swedish, Danish, or English.

Travelers with access to the EU Digital Certificate may use it to present proof.

Details and Exemptions:This requirement does not apply to:
-Citizens and residents of Iceland and their families;
-Students, work permit holders, and their families;
-Children born in 2005 and later.
