US To India Travel Restrictions, Flights News & Travel Ban In 2021 – Advisory & Requirements

India: Closed for Travel

Entry restricted for international travelers
Most international travelers are not allowed to enter India. There are limited flights available from the UK, Germany, France, Japan, USA, Oman, UAE, Afghanistan, Nepal, Bahrain, Russia, Qatar, Kuwait, Kenya, Maldives, Bangladesh, Sri Lanka, Canada, and United States.

Travelers wishing to enter must have the appropriate Indian visa. Tourist visa holders are not allowed to enter at the moment.

Details and Exemptions:Entry restrictions do not apply to:
-Indian citizens;
-Holders of valid Indian visas;
-OCI cardholders;
-Foreign businessmen;
-Foreign health care professionals;
-Foreign engineering, managerial, design, or other specialists traveling on behalf of foreign businesses located in India;
-Foreign technical specialists and engineers traveling for installation or repair and maintenance of foreign-origin machinery and equipment
-Journalists (J-1) and their dependents who are holding J-1X visa
-Nationals of Nepal and Bhutan are permitted to come to India from any country

Quarantine-Free

No quarantine required
Travelers from selected countries who do not have a travel history in selected countries during the 14 days prior to their arrival are not required to quarantine.

COVID-19 test required

Proof of negative COVID-19 test results
All travelers must have a negative COVID-19 RT-PCR test result. The test must be taken a maximum of 72 hours before departure.

The test result should be submitted through the Air Suvidha portal.

Some airports and states in India do not require a negative COVID-19 RT-PCR before departure if travelers are fully vaccinated. Please contact the airline directly for more details.

Masks are required

Masks are mandatory in public
Travelers must wear masks while in public, especially in urban areas, indoors, and on public transportation.

Other Things to Take Note Of

Mandatory 14-day self-monitoring
Travelers arriving from selected countries who do not have a travel history in selected countries during the 14 days prior to their arrival must self-monitor their health for 14 days on arrival.

Travelers found to be symptomatic during screening will be isolated in a medical facility.

Details and Exemptions:Travelers will be provided the phone numbers for the National and State level surveillance call centers which they can call in case they develop symptoms.

Temperature screening on arrival
Temperature screening is required for all travelers before departure to India, and on arrival in India.

Required Documents for your Trip

Mandatory proof of vaccination
Travelers must have a valid vaccination certificate showing it has passed at least 15 days since the completion of the COVID-19 vaccination schedule.

Travelers from a country outside of India and that have made an agreement with the Indian government to accept foreign vaccination certificates may provide a vaccination certificate issued in those countries. Currently, vaccination certificates are also accepted from these countries: the United Kingdom, France, Germany, Nepal, Belarus, Lebanon, Armenia, Ukraine, Belgium, Hungary, and Serbia.

Mandatory health declaration form
Travelers are required to complete an Air Suvidha self-declaration form a maximum of 72 hours before departing to India. They must upload their negative test results and a declaration of test results authenticity. This form can be completed online and travelers will receive an updated application document via email. They are required to show this document to immigration on arrival in India.

Travelers can apply for an exemption from presenting a negative test result only in case of death in the family and they must apply in the portal at least 72 hours before boarding.
