Starting 1 August 2024, the Consulate-General of Japan in Dubai will delegate most visa applications to VFS Global, Wego learns from the official announcement by the Consulate-General office.
The Consulate-General will only accept Diplomatic and Official visa applications directly. For all other visa categories, applicants must use VFS Global, which can be reached at WAFI Mall, Dubai. Detailed information is available on the VFS Global website.
This change aims to streamline the visa application process for efficiency and promptness. VFS Global will handle all related inquiries, and applicants are advised not to seek direct application submissions at the Consulate-General to maintain impartiality.
The standard processing time for complete applications submitted to VFS Global is eight working days. Incomplete applications will take longer, and comprehensive document examinations may span several months. Applicants are encouraged to apply well in advance.
The Consulate-General will continue to accept applications from Diplomatic and Special/Official Passport Holders, for Japan visa transfers, UAE passports without nationality references, and humanitarian cases.
