Visa on Arrival Countries for UAE Residents 2026: Where You Can Go Without a Pre-Arranged Visa

Last updated: May 28, 2026

UAE residents holding Indian, Pakistani, Filipino, and other passports can visit dozens of countries on a visa on arrival or visa-free basis in 2026, with no embassy appointments and no weeks of waiting.

How Visa on Arrival Works for UAE Residents

Your access depends on two things: your passport nationality and your UAE residency status. These work independently, and sometimes together.

UAE passport holders

Emirati citizens hold one of the world’s strongest passports, ranked 2nd on the Henley Passport Index 2026 with visa-free or visa-on-arrival access to 187 destinations. If you carry a UAE passport, most of the countries in this article are visa-free for you with no additional steps needed.

UAE residents on other passports

If you’re an Indian, Pakistani, Filipino, Bangladeshi, or other nationality living in the UAE, your access is determined primarily by your passport. However, several countries offer VOA or visa-free entry specifically because you hold a valid UAE residence visa. Georgia, Armenia, and Oman are notable examples.

For these countries, your UAE residency effectively upgrades your travel access beyond what your passport alone would provide. Always carry your Emirates ID and ensure your residence visa has sufficient validity. Most countries require at least 6 months remaining.

Visa-Free and VOA Destinations Open to All Nationalities

These countries let virtually everyone in without a pre-arranged visa, regardless of passport. They’re the easiest options for any UAE resident.

Maldives

  • Visa type: Free visa on arrival
  • Duration: 30 days (extendable to 90 days for MVR 750)
  • Fee: Free
  • Who qualifies: All nationalities (except Israeli passport holders, banned since April 2025)

The Maldives grants a free 30-day visa on arrival to all nationalities. You need a passport valid for at least one month, a return ticket, a hotel or guesthouse booking, and proof of funds (USD 100 plus $50 per day).

Complete the free IMUGA Traveller Declaration online within 96 hours of your flight. Extensions of up to 60 additional days can be applied for at the Department of Immigration in Malé.

Seychelles

  • Visa type: Visa-free (Visitor’s Permit on arrival)
  • Duration: Up to 3 months (extendable to 12 months)
  • Fee: Free on arrival, but EUR 10.90 for mandatory Travel Authorization (TA) online before departure
  • Who qualifies: All nationalities

Seychelles is visa-free for all nationalities. You receive a free Visitor’s Permit on arrival for up to 3 months. You’ll need a valid passport, return ticket, proof of accommodation, and sufficient funds.

One extra step: all travellers must apply for a Travel Authorization (TA) online before departure. You can apply up to 30 days before your flight.

Nepal

  • Visa type: Visa on arrival
  • Duration: 15, 30, or 90 days
  • Fee: USD 30 (15 days) | USD 50 (30 days) | USD 125 (90 days)
  • Who qualifies: All nationalities (Indian passport holders enter visa-free)

All nationalities can get a Nepal visa on arrival at Tribhuvan International Airport in Kathmandu. Indian passport holders enter Nepal visa-free and don’t need to pay anything.

Cambodia

  • Visa type: Visa on arrival (or e-visa in advance)
  • Duration: 30 days
  • Fee: USD 30 (VOA) | USD 30 (e-visa)
  • Who qualifies: Most nationalities

A 30-day tourist visa on arrival is available at Phnom Penh and Siem Reap airports for most nationalities. Bring a passport photo. You can also apply for an e-visa in advance to skip the queue.

Countries Where UAE Residency Unlocks Access

These destinations offer visa-free or VOA entry specifically to residents of GCC countries, including the UAE. Your UAE residence visa is the key here. Without it, you’d typically need a pre-arranged visa.

Georgia

  • Visa type: Visa-free for UAE/GCC residents
  • Duration: Up to 90 days within any 180-day period
  • Fee: Free
  • Key condition: UAE residence permit must be multiple-entry and valid for at least 12 months on arrival

UAE residents can enter Georgia visa-free for up to 90 days. But there’s a catch since mid-2025: your UAE residence permit must be multiple-entry and valid for at least 12 months on arrival. If it doesn’t meet that threshold, you’ll need to apply for a C1 tourist visa beforehand.

As of January 2026, Georgia also requires mandatory travel insurance with minimum coverage of 30,000 Georgian Lari (approximately AED 41,000). Check the Georgian e-Visa portal for the latest requirements.

Armenia

  • Visa type: Visa-free (temporary policy: expires 1 July 2026)
  • Duration: Up to 180 days within a one-year period
  • Fee: Free
  • Key condition: Residence permit must be a physical card or passport sticker in Latin script, valid for 6+ months

Armenia scrapped visa requirements for residents of 113 countries from 26 February until 1 July 2026. GCC residents, including UAE residents of any nationality, can stay for up to 180 days. Note: this policy expires on 1 July 2026 — verify the Armenian e-Visa portal before booking.

Your UAE residence permit must be a physical card or passport sticker with your name, nationality, and validity dates in Latin script, and valid for at least 6 months from entry. This is a temporary policy, so verify at the Armenian e-Visa portal that it’s still in effect when you travel.

Azerbaijan

  • Visa type: VOA at Baku airport or ASAN e-visa online
  • Duration: 30 days (VOA) | 30 days (e-visa)
  • Fee: USD 30 (VOA) | USD 25 (e-visa)
  • UAE citizens: Visa-free for up to 90 days

UAE residents can enter Azerbaijan with either a visa on arrival at Baku airport or an ASAN e-visa processed within 3 working days. An urgent e-visa option is available within 3 hours.

The e-visa is the better option: it’s cheaper and avoids the arrival queue.

Oman

  • Visa type: VOA at airports and land borders, or eVisa online
  • Duration: 28 days
  • Fee: OMR 5 (approximately AED 48)
  • Key condition: Your Emirates ID must list an approved profession (medical, engineering, education, business, finance, and 100+ others)

UAE residents can get a visa on arrival at Omani airports and land borders, but only if your Emirates ID lists an approved profession. You can also apply through the Royal Oman Police eVisa portal.

If your profession isn’t on the approved list, you’ll need a sponsored tourist visa arranged through an Omani host.

Turkey

  • UAE citizens: Visa-free, up to 90 days within any 180-day period
  • Indian/Pakistani/other passports: e-visa required (not VOA), USD 43, 30-day stay
  • Extra requirement for Indians and Pakistanis: Must hold a valid Schengen, UK, US, or Ireland visa/residence permit to be eligible for the Turkish e-visa
  • Apply at: evisa.gov.tr

UAE citizens enjoy visa-free access to Turkey for up to 90 days. No application needed.

For Indian, Pakistani, and most other passport holders, Turkey requires an e-visa, not a visa on arrival. Indian and Pakistani nationals both need a supporting document such as a valid Schengen, UK, US, or Ireland visa or residence permit to qualify for the e-visa.

Popular VOA Destinations by Nationality

Thailand update (May 2026): Thailand’s cabinet approved cutting visa-free stays from 60 to 30 days; the change takes effect approximately June 2026.

A note on this table: Visa policies change frequently. Always verify your specific nationality’s requirements on the destination country’s official immigration website or embassy before booking. The table above reflects general policies as of May 2026.

What to Check Before You Fly

Having VOA access doesn’t mean you can show up empty-handed. Here’s what to prepare regardless of your destination.

Documents to carry

  • Valid passport: most countries require at least 6 months of remaining validity
  • Emirates ID: essential for destinations that grant access based on UAE residency
  • UAE residence visa: some countries (Georgia, Armenia) require it to be valid for 6 to 12 months from arrival
  • Return or onward ticket: required at almost every VOA destination
  • Proof of accommodation: hotel booking or invitation letter
  • Proof of funds: cash, bank statement, or credit card; requirements vary by country

Check flight availability first

With Gulf carriers still operating reduced schedules following the regional disruptions, confirm your flight is actually operating before heading to the airport. Emirates has restored service to 137 destinations as of early May 2026, Etihad is serving around 80 destinations, and flydubai is back to over 100 routes. Many European carriers remain suspended on Gulf routes.

Use the Wego flight tracker to check real-time flight status from Dubai (DXB), Abu Dhabi (AUH), or Sharjah (SHJ) before making plans.

Travel insurance is non-negotiable

Given the current regional situation, comprehensive travel insurance is more important than ever. Georgia now mandates it. Even where it’s optional, a policy covering trip disruption, medical emergencies, and flight cancellations can save you from being stranded without support.

Note that most standard policies contain war exclusion clauses, so read the fine print carefully.

Frequently Asked Questions

Does my UAE residence visa give me visa-free access everywhere?

No. Your UAE residence visa unlocks additional access to specific countries like Georgia, Armenia, Oman, and Azerbaijan. For most other destinations, your visa requirements are determined by your passport nationality. The UAE residence visa alone does not grant universal visa-free travel.

Can I get a visa on arrival if my UAE residence visa is about to expire?

It depends on the destination. Georgia requires at least 12 months of remaining validity on your UAE residence permit. Armenia requires 6 months. Most other VOA countries require at least 6 months on your passport. If your residency or passport is close to expiring, check the specific country’s requirements before booking.

Do I need to carry my Emirates ID when travelling on a visa on arrival?

Yes, if you’re relying on your UAE residency status for entry. Countries like Georgia, Armenia, Oman, and Azerbaijan may ask to see your Emirates ID or residence permit as proof. Even where it’s not strictly required, carrying it avoids complications at immigration.

Are flights from Dubai available to all these destinations right now?

Most VOA destinations in Asia and Africa are reachable from Dubai, Abu Dhabi, or Sharjah via Emirates, Etihad, flydubai, or Air Arabia. However, some routes may operate on reduced frequencies. Always confirm your specific flight is operating using the Wego flight tracker before heading to the airport.

What’s the difference between visa on arrival and e-visa?

A visa on arrival (VOA) is issued at the airport when you land, with no advance application needed. An e-visa must be applied for online before departure and approved before you board your flight. Both are relatively hassle-free compared to traditional embassy visas, but an e-visa requires planning ahead by a few days to a week.
