What is White Friday?

White Friday is the day when merchants, stores and businesses reward their faithful customers with huge sales, hefty discounts, and attractive cashback programs.

With this year’s White Friday traditionally set to kick-off on November 27 (last Friday of the month), there’s no time like the present to start prepping for the highly-anticipated super shopping bonanza. As such, we’ve rounded up some of the best stores and deals the UAE has to offer as well as some shopping tips and best practices to help you make the most out of this year’s biggest shopping event!

Stores and deals

Keep in mind that most stores will officially make their White Monday announcement a week or two prior to the 27th of November. This makes pinpointing the exact date of when stores will commence their White Friday promotions rather tricky. So make sure to bookmark this page and check back often.

The following are some of the best stores with the best deals from last year’s event, and if they’re any indication, this year’s White Friday will be the biggest one yet.

White Friday tips and best practices

It’s easy to find yourself a bit disoriented between all the bombastic promotions and unreal discounts. The key of maximizing your White Friday lies in knowing how to truly take advantage of these price cuts while avoiding the pitfalls. Read on to learn our tips for a profitable White Friday.

Avoid compulsive purchases

Obviously, everyone is entitled to pretty much do anything they want with their money, but do make a list of what you intend of buying. No matter how tempting an offer may seem, it’s going to be pointless if you’re not gonna be using it later on.

Your due diligence, compare prices in different stores and platforms

To separate the wheat from the chaff, do a price comparison on multiple stores or platforms to ensure you get the best available deal.

Set a budget and stick to it

It’s indeed tempting to go all out on a shopping spree, but setting a budget and sticking to it will prevent you from going overboard. Once you’ve purchased the items on the list, deciding how much money you can spend on extra items will be much easier.

Arrive early and mind the safety protocols

When it comes to brick-and-mortar shops, White Fridays are notoriously gruelling. Long ques and bumpy crowds are to be expected, therefore it is imperative to equip yourself with the proper protective gear to keep yourself and other shoppers safe.

Avoid public Wi-Fi networks

Online shoppers beware, hackers are certainly on the prowl on White Friday with the aim of obtaining your credit card number and credentials. Therefore, never complete a transaction using public networks; only opt for secure and encrypted networks to avoid your data being intercepted.
