What is a Qatar family visit visa?

The Qatar family visit visa allows expatriate residents to bring their family members to Qatar on a short-term basis. The visa is mainly issued to immediate family members, but it can now also be issued to other relatives of the expatriates.

Eligibility

Sponsor: Qatar resident with accredited family accommodation and a non-labour profession.
Minimum salary: QAR 5000.
Visitor: Must be an allowed relative within the approved degree of relationship.
Health insurance: Required for the entire stay period.
Channel: Apply via Metrash2 or at a Ministry of Interior (MoI) service center.

Who can you invite?

Immediate family: spouse, children.
Newborns: eligible with a passport and a birth certificate.
Other relatives: parents, parents-in-law and siblings.

Note: Only married residents can sponsor “other relatives.”

Apply online via Metrash2

Before you start

Scan clear copies of required documents (PDF/JPG); ensure passports are readable and names match IDs.
Confirm that your salary and profession meet the eligibility requirements.

Process

First, make sure to download and register on the Metrash2 (iOS, Android) application on your mobile phone.
Open the Metrash2 application and log in to your account.
Select the “Visa” icon that appears on the screen.
Click on the “Issue Visa” icon followed by the “Family Visit” icon.
Select “Family Visa Application” from the drop-down menu.
Click on “New Application” and fill up the personal details of the visitor, including Gender, Relation, Date of Birth, Passport Details, etc, accurately.
Select the “I agree on the validity of data” option to proceed.
The system will now ask you to ‘Upload the Visitor documents’, including Birth Certificate, Passport Copy, and Passport Copy (Others). Please make sure that the document scans or pictures are clear and readable.
Upload all the required documents and click on ‘Next.’
Confirm the uploading of all your documents as a final step of the process.

Apply offline at an MoI service center

Download and fill out the family visit visa form.
Visit the MoI service center with originals + photocopies of all documents.
Submit; you may be asked brief questions by an officer.
Track your approval online after 2 working days.
Once approved, pay the fee at the center or via Metrash2 and collect/print the visa.

After approval: Print your visa

Visit the MOI visa website’s “Visa Inquiry and Printing” page.
Enter your visa number or passport number, select your nationality, and enter the captcha code displayed.
Click “Submit” to view your Qatar visa status.
If your visa is approved, select the “Print” option to download and print the official visa document.

Extend your family visit visa

In person: Visit an MoI center with a passport and return ticket; pay QAR 200/month.
Online: Use the Ministry of Interior website for the visit visa extension service.
