UAE biometric kiosks
The UAE is working on a project to provide 24/7 biometric services for citizens and residents. The Federal Authority for Identity, Citizenship, Customs, and Ports Security is developing kiosks that offer instant passport and Emirates ID renewals, biometrics services and more. These kiosks will streamline the process of submitting biometrics for UAE nationals and residents, eliminating the need for appointments at service centers. The Biometric Kiosk was displayed at the Dubai World Trade Center in October 2023.
The project is currently in the trial phase and is expected to be fully implemented by the end of this year, offering a more accessible and efficient way for individuals in the UAE to manage their biometric information.
What to expect at biometric centres in the UAE?
If you are applying for or renewing an Emirates ID, part of the process involves capturing your biometrics. This is typically done at an Emirates ID Biometrics Centre, where they offer a range of services, including:
- Fingerprint capture
- Issuance of a new ID card
