Last updated: Oct 14, 2026

Registration closes 20 October

Qatar’s Ministry of Awqaf and Islamic Affairs is taking Hajj 2027 applications on hajj.gov.qa until 20 October 2026. Qatar’s rules below come from the ministry’s own statements, mainly as published by the Qatar News Agency.

The ministry repeated the 20 October deadline in its 7 October update, when it said more than 12,000 people were expected to apply. That is nearly three people for every one of Qatar’s 4,400 places, and the winners are picked in an electronic draw.

So don’t leave it to the last day. Get your medical check done first, because you can’t register without it.

Check if you can apply

The rules depend on your nationality. The ministry says they follow the health standard Saudi Arabia’s Ministry of Hajj and Umrah has used since last season.

Who is applying?

Can apply

Qatari citizens aged 18 or over can apply and add up to three companions on the same application.

What to do

Have each companion’s details ready before you register. The ministry warns that leaving them off at the start can cause problems with approval later.

How to apply step by step

  1. Get a medical fitness certificate. Have the Hajj medical check at any health center in Qatar. The ministry says the result shows up in the Hajj system within about 90 minutes, because the system is linked to the Ministry of Public Health.
  2. Register on hajj.gov.qa by 20 October. The official Hajj portal is the only place applications are accepted. Add all your companions now.
  3. Wait for the draw. Screening starts as soon as registration closes, and the ministry expects the electronic draw at the end of October.
  4. Watch for a text message. Acceptances go by SMS to the phone number on your application, from late October.
  5. Pick a Hajj campaign and pay within one week. If you’re accepted, you have a week to choose a licensed Hajj campaign on the portal, sign the contract and pay QAR 10,000 online.

Stuck on the form? Call the Department of Hajj and Umrah Affairs on 132 during working hours. The ministry says it is fixing problems some applicants had with adding a companion or male guardian and with correcting residence or age details.

What the QAR 10,000 covers

The QAR 10,000 is an advance, not a registration fee. In its 19 September statement, the ministry said the amount is taken off the full price of your Hajj package. That price varies by campaign, depending on the accommodation, transport, meals and other services each one offers.

All licensed campaigns for the season are listed on the portal. To see how pilgrims traveled from Qatar last season, read our guide to Hajj flights from Qatar, and for the rules in Makkah, see Hajj and Umrah rules explained.

How this guide was put together
  • Dates, eligibility rules, the quota, the medical step and the draw come from the Ministry of Awqaf’s statements as published by the Qatar News Agency, The Peninsula and Qatar Tribune.
  • The QAR 10,000 advance is in the ministry’s 19 September statement and its 7 October update. Its 6 September briefing said the amount would be announced later.
  • hajj.gov.qa did not open from outside Qatar when this was checked, so the portal’s screens are not described here.
  • Not covered: the exact closing time on 20 October, how the draw ranks applications, and package prices by campaign. We could not find these in the ministry’s published statements.
