Brunei: Closed for Travel

Entry restricted for international travelers
Travelers are not allowed to enter Brunei. Those seeking permission to enter must apply to the Prime Minister’s Office for an entry travel pass.

Details and Exemptions:The travel pass application will be reviewed for consideration on a case-to-case basis by authorities and it is applicable for the following:
-Essential business travel (including official travel);
-Students;
-Individual traveling for the purpose of medical treatment;
-Compassionate and other special circumstances, such as parents, spouse, or other immediate family members of Brunei Citizens or Residents.

14 days quarantine

Mandatory quarantine
Travelers are required to quarantine at their hotel accommodation for 2 to 14 days on arrival. Travelers must secure accommodation before arrival.

COVID-19 test required

Mandatory COVID-19 test on arrival
Travelers are required to take a COVID-19 RT-PCR test on arrival. This test must be pre-paid by the sponsoring agency or sponsoring family member before arriving in Brunei.

Required Documents for your Trip

Mandatory travel authorization form
An entry travel pass application must be submitted at least 8 working days before the intended date of travel by the sponsoring (receiving) agency or sponsoring family member in Brunei on behalf of the traveler.

Details and Exemptions:This pass application will be reviewed for consideration on a case-to-case basis by authorities and it is applicable for the following:
-Essential business travel (including official travel);
-Students;
-Individual traveling for the purpose of medical treatment;
-Compassionate and other special circumstances, such as parents, spouse, or other immediate family members of Brunei Citizens or Residents.

Mandatory contact-tracing app
Travelers are required to download the BruHealth App prior to departure where they must self-report daily for the first 14 days of their stay.

Details and Exemptions:The sponsoring agency must also prepare Brunei SIM cards for travelers ahead of their arrival to ensure smooth BruHealth registration upon arrival.

Proof of negative COVID-19 test results
Travelers must have a negative COVID-19 RT-PCR test result. The test must be taken a maximum of 72 hours before departure to Brunei.

Details and Exemptions:Where there are circumstances that the traveler is unable to obtain such a test, the sponsor must obtain an exemption letter from the Ministry of Health, Brunei Darussalam via e-mail at [email protected].
