Kuwait fine latest news

Kuwait’s Finance Minister Fahd Al Jarallah has revealed plans to introduce fees for accessing public utilities and services to boost state revenue. The government’s revenue-enhancement program includes a pricing mechanism for public services, fees, and violations, with periodic updates. A framework will be established to review and reprice state-owned property, ensuring fairness and considering productivity rates.

Foreigners, constituting nearly 3.4 million of Kuwait’s 4.6 million population, are the focus of “Kuwaitisation,” an employment policy that addresses demographic imbalances by prioritizing citizen employment over foreign workers.

Kuwait’s government has also unveiled measures to protect state funds and collect overdue revenue. Starting September 1, all expatriates must settle their electricity and water bills before departing the country. The Interior Ministry has also urged foreigners to clear any outstanding traffic fines before leaving.

These efforts have yielded results, with approximately KD4 million collected from departing expatriates and Gulf nationals. Notably, KD 1.1 million was attributed to traffic violation fines collected over two months, while an additional KD2.9 million was collected in electricity and water bills from September 1 to September 23.

Introducing these new fees and the government’s commitment to enhancing revenue streams demonstrate Kuwait’s proactive approach to managing its finances and ensuring the equitable provision of public services.
