Oman’s budget-friendly carrier, SalamAir, marked a significant milestone on Monday as it successfully completed its maiden flight from Muscat to Peshawar, according to an official statement by Pakistan’s Civil Aviation Authority (CAA). This inaugural flight marks the addition of Peshawar as the fourth Pakistani destination served by SalamAir, Wego reports.

On the 16th of August, SalamAir had officially announced its newest destination, Peshawar, a prominent city in the northwestern region of Pakistan. The airline pledged to operate two weekly flights to Peshawar, specifically on Mondays and Thursdays. This strategic move underscores SalamAir’s commitment to strengthening its presence in the Pakistani market.

SalamAir’s journey in Pakistan began on 17 May 2017, with the commencement of operations in Sialkot. Since that initial foray, the airline has steadily expanded its network in Pakistan, facilitating travel connections to Multan, Karachi, and now Peshawar.

According to the CAA, SalamAir’s maiden flight from Muscat to Peshawar touched down at 3:13 AM, receiving a traditional water salute from fire tenders on the taxiway—a time-honored aviation tradition signifying respect and celebration for the inauguration of a new air route.

SalamAir also took to the social media platform X, formerly known as Twitter, to share their enthusiasm about this significant milestone. They stated, “SalamAir launched its inaugural flight from Muscat to Peshawar today.”

The addition of Peshawar to SalamAir’s route network not only enhances connectivity between Oman and Pakistan but also provides travelers with more accessible and cost-effective options for air travel. This development is poised to strengthen the cultural and economic ties between the two nations.

As SalamAir continues to expand its presence in Pakistan, travelers can anticipate a wider array of affordable and convenient choices for exploring this diverse and culturally rich region.
