UAE visa grace period news 2024

According to the newest report, there is no longer a grace period for visit visa holders. The duration of stay is now determined by the type of visa, either 30 days or 60 days. Previously, only Dubai granted a grace period, but this policy has also been discontinued since May 15.

Those who fail to comply with the new rules will result in a fine of DH 50 per day. In addition to the daily fine, visitors will be required to pay an extra DH 320 for relevant charges and exit permits. The fine can be paid online prior to arriving at the airport, or immigration officials will collect the amount from visitors overstaying their visas upon their departure.

What is UAE visa grace period?

The UAE visa grace period refers to the additional time granted to individuals after their visa expires, allowing them to legally stay in the country without facing penalties or consequences.

During this grace period, individuals are usually required to take the necessary steps to renew their visa, apply for a new visa, or make arrangements to exit the country. The length of the grace period can vary depending on the specific visa type and the regulations set by the UAE government. It is important for individuals to be aware of and adhere to the grace period to ensure compliance with immigration laws in the UAE.

Grace periods of Dubai & UAE visas 2024

The UAE visa grace periods in 2024 vary depending on the type of visa and the category of the visa holder. Here are some of the common scenarios:

Residence visa holders

UAE residents are granted longer flexible grace periods that reach up to 6 months to stay in the country after the residence permit is canceled or expired. The grace period to exit the UAE after a residency visa cancellation has been increased to between 60 and 180 days in most cases. Overstay fines on residence visas have been increased to 50 AED per day.

Green and Golden visa holders

Green and Golden visa holders and their families won’t have their residence visas canceled even if they stay outside the country for more than 180 days. These visas are issued for 5 or 10 years and can be renewed automatically without any conditions.

Divorced women and widows

When a woman living in the UAE on her husband’s visa is divorced or widowed, the UAE Government grants her a 180 days of grace periods and an extension of one year on her residence visa. The extension starts from the date of the death of her husband or the divorce. This type of visa is renewable for one time only and does not require a substitute sponsor.

Students

Students who are sponsored by their parents can get a five-year residency visa until they complete their studies and a 180 days grace period. Students who are sponsored by educational institutions can get a one-year residency visa that can be renewed for another year upon graduation
