This strategic move is part of Air India’s broader global route network expansion initiatives, aiming to cater to the growing demands of travelers.

For the convenience of travelers, Air India has established one-stop connections to and from Melbourne for passengers from 17 major Indian cities, via Delhi or Mumbai. This new Mumbai-Melbourne route further enhances seamless two-way connectivity between Heathrow, London, and Melbourne through these key Indian cities.

Air India is set to operate flights on the Mumbai-Melbourne route using its Boeing 787-8 Dreamliner aircraft, featuring 18 flat beds in Business Class and 238 spacious seats. This ensures a comfortable and enjoyable journey for passengers of all classes.

The Mumbai-Melbourne route is a game-changer, adding nearly 40,000 seats annually to the Australian state of Victoria. This region boasts a significant Indian community, estimated at over 200,000 individuals, constituting approximately 40 percent of the total Indian diaspora in Australia. With such a substantial demographic, the new services will not only meet the increasing demand to visit friends and relatives but also capture the rising interest in business and leisure travel to this vibrant region.
