In a significant development, the Chinese Embassy in India has introduced notable changes to the visa application process for Indian citizens, with a focus on simplification and increased flexibility. According to the most recent directives, there is a temporary suspension of the requirement to collect biometric data from applicants applying for specific visa categories. According to sources verified by Wego, these modifications are currently in effect and are set to remain so until 31 December 2023.

The modified procedures apply to the following visa categories:

  • business visas (M Category)
  • tourist visas (L Category)
  • short-term family visit visas to Chinese citizens (Q2 Category)
  • transit visas (G Category)
  • crew visas (C Category)

Please note that all of these visa categories are limited to either single or double entry.

Additionally, the Chinese Embassy in New Delhi has taken steps to enhance the support and information available to Indian nationals seeking visas. They have established direct communication channels dedicated to addressing any inquiries or issues that may arise during the visa application process.
