  • Trainee: The trainee Scheme is tailored for people who have been offered short-term employment as trainees at companies in Denmark.
  • Herdsmen and Farm Managers: the Herdsmen and Farm Managers Scheme is particularly intended for individuals who have job offers as herdsmen or farm managers in the agriculture sector.

How to apply for a Denmark work visa?

Required documents

The following are some of the general documents required to apply for a Denmark work visa:

  • Attached receipt of the paid visa fee.
  • Copy of all passport pages, including the front and back cover and the blank pages.
  • Employment contract or job offer.
  • Documentation of education relevant to the job offered.
  • Documentation of authorization. Please note that this is only relevant if the job requires Danish authorization.

Application process

The Denmark work visa can be applied by following the steps given below:

  • Visit the Danish Agency for International Recruitment and Integration (SIRI) website.
  • Select the type of visa scheme you want to apply for.
  • Click on the ‘How to apply’ option under your selected visa scheme.
  • Create a Case Order ID by filling in all the required details.
  • Pay the fee. 
  • Gather all the required documents.
  • Complete and submit the application form.
  • Have your biometrics recorded, including facial photos and fingerprints. The facial photo and your fingerprints will be stored on a microchip embedded in the residence card, which will be issued to you if you are granted a permit.

Please note that in case you do not agree to have your biometric features recorded, your application will be rejected.  Applicants living abroad can have their biometric features recorded at a Danish diplomatic mission or an application center in the country where they reside.

Processing time

As per some sources, the processing time for a Denmark work visa is typically 30 days. However, for certain visa types, such as Fast-Track visas, applicants usually receive a response within 10 days.
