What is Emirates Dubai 7s?

The Dubai 7s, an annual rugby and social gathering event, takes place at The Sevens Stadium in Dubai, UAE. Sincee its inception in 1970, the event holds the distinction of being the longest-standing sports extravaganza in the Middle East.

The event hosts world-class sports tournaments, with rugby being the major attraction; new additions to its lineup are cricket and netball. It also hosts music festivals, entertainment activities, and charitable events like Dubai 7s For Good and Long Lunch. This varied lineup makes Emirates Dubai 7s an event that truly has something for everyone.

As we mentioned, the Emirates Dubai 7s hosts world-class sports tournaments, music festivals, entertainment activities and charitable events. Here is a rundown of the different events you can expect at this year’s Emirates Dubai 7s.

Sports events

Here are some of the world-class sports tournaments you will get to witness at the Emirates Dubai 7s 2023.

HSBC World Rugby Sevens Series

The Emirates Dubai 7s has been on the HSBC World Rugby Sevens Series since its inception in 1999. It is the only tournament to host the Men & Women’s series every year. The Emirates Dubai 7s hosts the very best teams in the world each year on the opening weekend of December.

Invitational Rugby

The largest mass-participation rugby 7s tournament in the world, with teams joining from every corner of the globe! 15 divisions of play as sides run out across the eight beautiful fields of The Sevens Stadium over 3 days.

Cricket

The Emirates Dubai 7s hosts a unique form of cricket, played by teams made up of seven members instead of the traditional eleven. The invitational tournament was inaugurated in the 2021 edition and reprised in the 2022 edition. It will make a return for its third edition at the Emirates Dubai 7s 2023.

Netball

It is a huge crowd favourite at the Emirates Dubai 7s. This invitational tournament was introduced in the year 2014, and is well known worldwide as sides play on the four courts of The Sevens Stadium.

WODON3

Whether you just want to have fun with friends and are new to the sport of fitness, a bit of a veteran of the sport or consider yourself to be part of the elite, there are divisions for everyone at WODON3, Fitness at Emirates Dubai 7s.

Music & entertainment events

The Emirates Dubai 7s also plays host to some enthralling music and entertainment experiences. Please note that these events aren’t yet announced officially for the 2023 season. To give you a glimpse of what to expect, here are some of the best events from last year’s Emirates Dubai 7s.

Beats On Two

Beats on Two is a unique bar concept which overlooks all the action on Pitch Two. It is an outdoor setting with a Balearic influence, featuring live music from international DJs throughout the day, alongside experiential cocktails. It is a prime location to meet your friends and enjoy great music.

Rugby Rocks and Heineken Tavern

It is a local favourite at the Emirates Dubai 7s. If Oasis, The Stones, Arctic Monkeys, and Guns & Roses are more your cup of tea than international DJs, then Rugby Rocks will be the stage for you on both evenings at the Emirates Dubai 7s.

The Hangar

The Emirates Dubai 7s has long been known for the very best VIP hospitality. Nestled within the VIP Experience is ‘The Hangar’. The Hangar aims to give you and your guests that private plane experience, from landing in The Hangar at the beginning of the day to enjoying the very best entertainment in the beer garden.

Charity events

The Emirates Dubai 7s also aims to give back to the community through programs that aim to leave a lasting positive impact.

Long Lunch

The Long Lunch is one of the Emirates Dubai 7s highly anticipated annual charity events. The event combines a premium lunch experience with amazing entertainment with a major focus on raising money for dedicated Emirates Dubai 7s CSR programs.

Every year, the lunch will invite guest speakers, including sporting legends from all around the world, to entertain guests with stories about their careers and anecdotes about the different characters and experiences they have encountered across their professional careers on and off the rugby pitch.

Dubai 7s For Good

The Dubai 7s For Good is Emirates Dubai 7s CSR program, in partnership with Impact Adventures, which ensures the contributions received from the Long Lunch are purpose driven and have a long lasting effect.

The initiative works with North Road Primary School in Mbale, Uganda across 5 key areas:

Coaching children and training adults
Empowering communities
Cultural Exchanges
Education and infrastructure
Linking rugby to health and prosperity

Emirates Dubai 7s location

The Emirates Dubai 7s will be held at the Sevens Stadium, where it has been held every year since 2008. The Sevens boasts an array of facilities, including eight rugby pitches, six cricket pitches, four netball/tennis courts, one basketball court, a grandstand, and various supporting amenities.

Emirates Dubai 7s tickets

The tickets for the Emirates Dubai 7s 2023 will go on sale from September 1, 2023. Tickets will be available for each of the three nights of the events, as well as for weekend reserved seating and hangar hospitality.
