Indian passport fees 2023
The fees for obtaining a passport in India vary depending on several factors, including passport category, age, and required scheme. The fees can range from INR 1,000 to INR 5,500. Applicants can opt for either the normal or tatkal scheme, with the latter offering expedited processing in 1-3 days at a higher fee. Normal processing typically takes 30-45 days.

New passport fees
Here are the fees for new passports categorized by age group, validity period, and scheme.
For ages 18 and above with 10 years of validity
- normal scheme:
- 36 pages – INR 1,500
- 60 pages – INR 2,000
- tatkal scheme:
- 36 pages – INR 3,500
- 60 pages – INR 4,000
For ages 18 and above with 5 years of validity
- normal scheme: 36 pages – INR 1,000
- tatkal scheme: 36 pages – INR 3,000
For ages 15 to 18 with 10 years of validity
- normal scheme: 36 pages – INR 1,500

Renewal and reissuance of passport fees
The reissuance of an Indian passport can be classified into two categories, namely minor and adult. Within these categories, citizens may have various requirements, such as a change in validity, ECR status, personal particulars, or lost/damaged passports.
Below are the fees for the reissuance due to expired/soon-to-expire validity, change of ECR status, change in personal particulars, and exhaustion of all pages.
