The passport renewal process can be tedious when you are in a different country. The process might be time-consuming, and several documents will be required for the renewal request to be approved. Therefore, to renew your Indian passport in Saudi Arabia, specific guidelines have to be followed.

Indian passport renewal in Saudi Arabia
Indian expats in Saudi Arabia can renew or reissue their passports from India’s Passport Seva website. The online application form and required documents must also be submitted to the nearest VFS Global Center for them to process the passport renewal.
A passport in India is reissued under the following circumstances:
- Validity expired or validity due to expire
- Exhaustion of visa pages
- Lost/stolen, or damaged passports
- Change in existing passport particulars
Validity expired or validity due to expire
An application for the Indian passport renewal can be submitted anytime within one year, before or after the expiry of the validity. However, if the passport has expired for more than three (3) years, the application should be supported by a Sworn Affidavit explaining the circumstances and the reasons for the late renewal.
Requirements
- Applicants will be required to fill out the online application form at the Passport Seva website and carry a printout of the filled-in application form. Please note that the personal particulars form is NOT required in case of online applications
- Three recent passport-size photographs of 2 inch x 2 inch with white background.
- Original Passport, including subsequent additional booklet(s), if any.
- Photocopy of the passport (first two and last two pages and all pages of observations, if any, made by the Passport Issuing Authority)
- Copy of valid Iqama. Please note that the original copy has to be presented for verification
The personal presence of the applicant at the VFS Global Center is required. You can book your appointment at the nearest VFS Global Center from here.
Please note that if the passport is renewed after three (3) years from the date of expiry, an affidavit is also required to be submitted.
Exhaustion of visa pages
An application for re-issuance of a passport can be submitted if the pages have been exhausted or there are not enough pages left for affixing visas.
Requirements
- Applicants are required to fill out the online application form at the Passport Seva website and are required to carry a printout of the filled-in application form. Please note that the personal particulars form is NOT required in case of online applications
- Three recent passport-size photographs of 2 x 2 inches with white background
- Original passport, including subsequent additional booklet(s), if any
- Photocopy of the passport (first two and last two pages and all pages of observations, if any, made by the Passport Issuing Authority)
- Original copy of the valid Iqama for verification. A copy of the printout showing the validity of Iqama from the Ministry of Interior website may also be submitted.
The applicant’s personal presence at the VFS Global Center is required. You can book your appointment at the nearest VFS Global center from here.
Change in existing passport particulars
An application for re-issuance of the Indian passport can be submitted for changes in any of the following existing particulars in the passport:
- Change of name
- Inclusion of spouse’s name. Please note that in addition to the requirements mentioned above, a copy of the spouse’s passport or Aadhaar card has to be submitted
- Deletion of ECR Status. You can find out the category of persons eligible for non-ECR status on the passport here
- Non-ECR status is granted on the basis of staying abroad for more than three (3) years only in those cases where their travel abroad is approved by POE.
- In addition to the requirements given above, a copy of the printout of a grant of POE clearance from the Emigrate website is required.
- Correction/Change in parents’ name
- Correction of spouse’s name
- Correction in date of birth
- Correction in place of birth
- Change of appearance
- Change of address
- Change of signature
How to apply for an Indian passport renewal in Saudi Arabia?
You can apply for an Indian passport renewal in Saudi Arabia by following the steps given below:
- Visit the Passport Seva website
- Select the “Register to Apply for Passport Services” option, and fill in all the required details
- After completing the registration process, log into your Passport Seva account with the registered login ID and password
- In the Applicant Home Page, click on the “Apply for Ordinary Passport” option and then on “Reissue” under the “Applying for” category to proceed with your re-issuance procedure
- After successful submission, take a printout of the online submitted form
- Visit the respective VFS Global Center along with the required supporting documents. You can book your appointment at the nearest VFS Global Center from here.
Indian passport renewal in Saudi Arabia fee
Please note that a fee of SAR 8 is to be paid as Indian Community Welfare Fund charges per consular/passport service per person.
The processing fee will depend on the type of passport you are renewing, including normal or tatkaal, as follows:
- For re-issuance of ordinary passport with 36 pages having a validity of ten (10) years (also applicable to minors in the age group of fifteen to eighteen years)
- Normal fee – SAR 276
- Tatkaal fee – SAR 828
- For re-issuance of ordinary passport with 36 pages having a validity of ten (10) years for senior citizens aged above 60 years:
- Normal fee – SAR 249
- Tatkaal fee – SAR 801
- For re-issuance of ordinary passport with 60 pages having a validity of ten (10) years (also applicable to minors in the age group of fifteen to eighteen years)
- Normal fee – SAR 368
- Tatkaal fee – SAR 920
- For re-issuance of ordinary passport with 60 pages having a validity of ten (10) years for senior citizens aged above 60 years:
- Normal fee – SAR 332
- Tatkaal fee – SAR 884
- For re-issuance of ordinary passport with 36 pages for minors below eighteen years of age with a validity of five years or till the minor attains the age of eighteen years, whichever is earlier:
- Normal fee – SAR 184
- Tatkaal fee – SAR 736
- For re-issuance of an ordinary passport with 36 pages for minors below eight years of age with a validity of five years:
- Normal fee – SAR 166
- Tatkaal fee – SAR 534
- For re-issuance of India-Bangladesh passport or passport for any other named foreign country with a maximum validity of ten years:
