PIA has carefully structured baggage allowances to accommodate various needs on international flights.

  • Economy Class: Passengers in this class are generally permitted to check in up to 30 kg of luggage.
  • Executive Economy/Business Class: Business class passengers often receive a more generous allowance, typically around 40 kg. However, it’s important to verify the exact allowance for your route and fare type, as variations might apply based on destination and flight details.

Cabin baggage

Bringing your essential items and valuables on board is made easy with PIA’s cabin baggage policy. This policy applies to both international and domestic flights:

  • Economy Class: Each passenger is allowed one piece of cabin baggage weighing up to 7 kg. The dimensions of the carry-on must not exceed 38 cm in length, 22 cm in width, and 55 cm in height.
  • Executive Economy/Business Class: Business class travelers on domestic flights often enjoy a more spacious cabin baggage allowance of around 12 kg for the main bag.

When traveling within Pakistan, PIA offers tailored baggage allowances for domestic flights, taking into account the specific requirements of local travel. Regardless of the class, all passengers are entitled to a baggage allowance of 20 kg, providing sufficient space for their travel essentials.

Cabin baggage

Facilitating the transportation of your crucial items and valuable possessions onboard is simplified through PIA’s cabin baggage regulations, which are applicable to both international and domestic flights:

  • Economy Class: Passengers in the Economy Class are permitted to bring along one piece of cabin baggage weighing a maximum of 7 kg. The dimensions of the carry-on should not surpass 38 cm in length, 22 cm in width, and 55 cm in height.
  • Executive Economy/Business Class: Travelers in the Business Class within the Executive Economy category, particularly on domestic flights, often enjoy a more generous cabin baggage allowance of approximately 12 kg for their primary bag.

PIA baggage allowance excess baggage

PIA charges for excess baggage if your luggage surpasses the specified weight limits. These charges can accumulate quickly, especially on international journeys. To avoid unexpected fees, it’s advisable to adhere to the established limits or consider purchasing an extra luggage allowance in advance.

Excess baggage can be purchased before ticketing until 4 hours before your flight’s departure. Within these 4 hours, standard excess baggage rates will apply. The list of excess baggage rates can be found here

Advance purchases of excess luggage are available online, at PIA booking offices, and through sales/travel agencies worldwide. This service is accessible on select international and domestic routes.

PIA restricted baggage items

PIA follows strict guidelines to ensure the well-being of all passengers and crew. Any substance, such as magnetized, offensive, or irritating, that poses a danger during the flight are restricted items. To avoid any inconvenience or delays during security checks, one must go through the comprehensive list of restricted items provided by PIA before packing.

The below-mentioned items, in either checked or hand baggage, are strictly prohibited from carrying along:
