Portugal visa-free countries list 2024
Third-country nationals are required to hold a long-stay visa to enter and stay in Portugal for over 90 days. The following citizens are exempt from that obligation:
- European Union Member State citizen
- state party to the European Economic Area Agreement, or a country with whom the EU has signed freedom of movement agreements
- family members of Portuguese citizens or foreign nationals included above
Citizens of the following countries can visit Portugal for up to 90 days without a visa. However, please note the following requirements when entering Portugal without a visa:
- you may need to show proof of financial resources at the port of entry to sustain your stay
- you may be asked to provide proof of a return flight ticket to ensure departure within the permitted visa-free stay of three months
- if visiting a friend or relative or if more funds are needed to finance the trip, a letter of invitation or guarantee may be required
