Amongst a sea of dark green, Wego green (and every shade of green) balloons floating on the wings of Wego‘s iconic plane logo, the cream of Singapore’s tourism and technology industry, along with some very supportive media, celebrated the opening of the brand new global headquarters of Wego at Beach Road in Singapore recently.

The new company headquarters, which engulfs the majority of an entire level of the Shaw Towers building, is a further reflection of the company’s growing needs as Wego’s global strategy takes flight.

“We wanted to create a fresh space which represents our brand and connects our diverse teams both visually and physically,”  said Craig Hewett, Co-Founder and Chief Commercial Officer for Wego, who was also lead interior designer for the new office. “We also wanted a space that communicates our company’s evolution to our clients. Wego has matured from the innovative start-up that we were around seven years ago to the multinational company we have become today.”

Featuring floor to ceiling windows the office overlooks Wego’s original birthplace with sweeping vistas of the Singapore city skyline, Marina Bay Sands, The Esplanade, Singapore National Library, One Raffles Place and the famed Merlion.

Fellow founder and CEO Ross Veitch provided an array of interior design books and asked staff to ‘sticky note’ which layouts most caught their eye. “We literately took inspiration from what staff highlighted and noticed that many had marked images which incorporate plants – so we made sure that our new layout is very green,” said Hewett.

Featuring a contemplative library with bean bags and funky lounge chairs, the office also has an open planned pantry with counter top tables lining the windows, which Hewett says is ‘jam-packed’ during lunch time.  “Some staff use the space for inspiration during the day choosing to work in the pantry with their laptops overlooking this amazing cityscape.”

The addition of the Wego Foosball table sees some serious competitive action during breaks, and proved extremely popular with party guests.

The office launch attracted some of the biggest names in travel, technology and media including TTG Asia, Techcrunch, Expat Living, Travelcasts and Travel Weekly. Lufthansa and Air Asia also joined the celebration along with Expedia, cheaptickets.com, and media agencies Zenith, Optimedia and Mindshare. Accommodation partners Resorts World Sentosa, Marketing Villas, The Villa Guide and Roomarama showed their support and the entry to the Wego office was adorned with garlands of well-wishing flowers.

“Our new office has made a huge difference to staff, promoting more spontaneous interactions and working as a real social space,” observed Hewett. “It’s also made our Wego brand more tangible to our staff, and it was wonderful to see everyone interacting and sharing our excitement with our very supportive industry partners and key clients at the launch.”
