Despite the lifting of social distancing measures in the Grand Mosque and the Prophet’s Mosque, the Saudi government continues its efforts to safeguard the safety and well-being of Umrah pilgrims from all over the world.
One of the ways of doing so is through the Eatmarna (اعتمرنا) mobile application, developed by Saudi Arabia’s Ministry of Hajj and Umrah.
If you’re looking to obtain an Umrah permit, read on to learn more about how you may do so by registering and applying through the Eatmarna app.
What is the Eatmarna app?
At its core, Eatmarna is an app allowing users to obtain the necessary permit to enter the two holy mosques in Makkah and Madinah.
The Eatmarna app is designed to provide a safer and more spiritual atmosphere for pilgrims and worshippers in general by keeping the level of attendance at manageable level. Eatmarna essentially helps to keep the mosques relatively crowd-free and conform to the capacity approved by the authorities.
It’s important to note that the Eatmarna app is integrated with the Tawakkalna app in confirming the health status of those looking to enter the two mosques.
An immune status on the Tawakkalna app is no longer needed to secure their permit for performing the tawaf, however, the permit is still needed to visit the Prophet’s Tomb and predetermine the best times to do so based on the level of worshippers present at the mosque.
The Eatmarna app also provides information about the most convenient means of transportation, the location of their assembly points, as well as the address of various service centers.
These pieces of information are crucial to the successful completion of the Umrah pilgrimage.
Downloading Eatmarna app
Note that the Eatmarna app has a family sharing feature of up to six family members. This means that a family of six only needs to have a single Eatmarna app account to obtain an entry permit to the two holy mosques.
Upon downloading the app, ensure that you have an immune status on the Tawakkalna or else the registration will fail and you won’t be able to log in.
You may then proceed to register yourself by following the steps outlined below:
- run the Eatmarna app and select ‘New User’
- confirm that your Tawakkalna app is valid
- enter your personal details and an OTP will be sent to your mobile number
- enter the OTP and the registration process is completed
Obtaining your Umrah permit on Eatmarna
The Eatmarna app provides a number of permits to choose from as follows:
- Praying in the Grand Mosque
- Praying in the Noble Wardah (Men)
- Praying in the Noble Wardah (Women)
- Prophet Visit
The process is the same for all the permits above. If for example, you’re looking to apply for an Umrah permit, the following applies:
