Booster doses of COVID-19 vaccines have been rolled out in most nations due to concerns over diminishing immunity and the spread of the highly transmissible Omicron COVID-19 variant.
Kuwait had already started administering booster doses to its residents who are above the age of 16 years, and the authorities have made the vaccine booster shot compulsory for all travellers entering Kuwait since January 2022.

Who are eligible for booster dose in Kuwait?
The Ministry of Health has made the booster dose available for all people above 16 years of age and advised them to take the booster COVID-19 dose in a bid to strengthen immunity against the disease.

Is booster dose compulsory in Kuwait?
The Government Communication Centre on 21 December 2021 stated that they will require citizens who has been fully vaccinated against COVID-19 for nine months to get a booster shot. Those who fail to get their booster shots will be barred from travel.
The emergence of omicron has made booster shots even more necessary. Research has indicated that 3 vaccine doses — the two preliminary shots plus a booster — could help in increasing the level of protection against a new variant like omicron.
The COVID-19 booster vaccination was earlier compulsory for travellers entering Kuwait. As per the recent announcement, starting 1 May 2022, international travelers to Kuwait are no longer required to be fully immunized nor will they require a PCR test to enter, regardless of their vaccination status.
How much does the booster dose cost?
The government of Kuwait is providing the COVID-19 vaccine free of charge to all Kuwait citizens and expats.
