Travellers are generally categorized between those who revel in the freedom of sleeping under the stars and those who are not particularly keen on sleeping on the ground in a bag that’s made out of other bags. Let’s face it; traditional camping isn’t for everyone.

But as with everything else in life, there’s always a middle ground. The UAE for example has a collection of glamping sites where one may opt to rekindle their connection with nature without sacrificing the comfort of modern conveniences.

Among the newest additions to the list is the Moon Retreat by MYSK in Sharjah. Let’s find out what all the hype is about, shall we?

New glamping destination in Sharjah

Officially opened by the Sharjah Investment and Development Authority (Shurooq), Moon Retreat by MYSK is a luxury glamping destination offering wide-open skies, sedative surroundings, and just-beyond-the-periphery service.

Set under the shadow of the Mleiha Fossil Rock amidst the sand dunes of Mleiha and framed by Al Faya Mountains, guests are invited to familiarize themselves with the desert by day and enjoy a canopy of stars by night. The establishment essentially offers guests simplicity, privacy, adventure, discovery, and the opportunity to partake in a one of a kind, hands-on desert glamping experience.

Adventurer by day, poet by night

A collection of activities is available to guests of the Moon Retreat provided by Shurooq’s tourism destinations in Mleiha as well as access to the retreat’s restaurant and café.

As the day breaks, guests are welcome to practice Yoga at sunrise and pay the Archeological Centre a visit. Those looking to rejuvenate themselves may avail the salt spa at Al Faya Retreat followed by a leisurely lunch.

As the day progresses, partake in trek or dune bashing, horse riding or visiting a camel farm among other available possibilities. Come sunset, an Arabic coffee ceremony awaits as the day comes to a close.

As darkness falls, guests are invited to make use of the provided telescope to stargaze the celestial bodies in the wide-open skies of the desert or share an intimate bonfire experience with loved ones. Other nocturnal activities include a movie experience as well as romantic dining under the stars.

Self service

The Moon Retreat offers a host to cater to urgent needs around the clock. However, to immerse guests in an authentic glamping experience, the retreat offers limited on-site services and guests will be required to largely cater to their needs themselves.
