Keep reading to know about the minimum salary and wages in Qatar.

Minimum salary and wages in Qatar

In March 2021, Qatar implemented a minimum wage system with a base salary of QAR 1,000 for all sectors, encompassing domestic workers as well. Employers are also required to contribute an additional QAR 500 per month towards accommodation and QAR 300 per month for food unless they already provide these amenities.

Pioneering a non-discriminatory approach, this minimum salary legislation is the first of its kind in the region. Such a minimum wage determination came after thorough discussions with a specialized national committee comprising relevant authorities in Qatar. The Minimum Wage Committee was subsequently established to periodically assess the impact and implementation of the minimum salary for both workers and domestic employees.
