How to check your Bahrain visa

Bahrain runs three separate online checks: the e-Visa application status, residency permit validity, and the LMRA work-permit eligibility tool. Follow the relevant section below for the one you need.

e-Visa application status

What it shows

Current application status for your Bahrain e-Visa request (e.g., received, under process, approved, rejected).

What you need

Passport number.
Nationality.
Date of birth.
Application reference number (from your e-Visa submission).

Steps

Open the Bahrain e-Visa application status portal.
Enter passport number, nationality, and date of birth.
Enter your application reference number.
Complete the captcha and select Submit.
Review your application status on the results page.

Result & next actions

Approved: Note any validity dates shown. Follow the portal instructions for printing or using your e-Visa.
Under process / Pending: Check back later, or contact NPRA support via [email protected] if the status does not change after a reasonable period.
Rejected: Review the stated reason (if provided). Consider reapplying or contacting NPRA via [email protected].
No record found: Re-check your inputs (especially the application reference number) and try again.

Residency visa validity

What it shows

Residency (permit) status and expiry date associated with your record. Some users may also be able to download or email a copy of the residency certificate.

What you need

Either of the following combinations typically works:

CPR (personal number) and passport number.
Passport number, nationality, and date of birth.

Steps

Open the Bahrain National Portal – Residency e-Services.
Select “Manage Requests and Residencies.”
Choose one of two options: “Specific Residency” or “Multiple Residencies/Requests.”
- If you select “Multiple Residencies/Requests,” you must log in to your eKey account using your identity number and password.
- If you select “Specific Residency,” choose either “Bahraini Personal Number” or “Passport Details.”
  - For “Bahraini Personal Number,” enter your personal number and passport number.
  - For “Passport Details,” enter your passport number, nationality and date of birth.

Click “Search.” The residency details will be displayed, including the residency owner’s name, personal number, expiry date and residency certificate.
Use the download option to save the certificate, or select “Email a copy” if you need it mailed.

Result & next actions

Active / Valid: Your residency is valid until the expiry date shown. Save or print the confirmation if it is available.
Expiring soon / Expired: Begin the renewal process or contact the relevant authority via Tawasul, the National Suggestions & Complaint System.
No record found / details don’t match: Re-enter details exactly as on your documents. If they still do not match, contact support via Tawasul.

Work permit legal status / eligibility

What it shows

An eligibility and legal-status outcome for participation in the Labour Registration Program.

What you need

Any one of the following:

CPR (personal number).
Work permit number.
Application ID.
Passport number & nationality.

Steps

Visit the Verification of Eligibility to Join the Labour Registration Program page on the LMRA website.
Choose one of the four tabs: Identity Card, Work Permit, Application ID or Passport.
Enter the relevant number in the field shown. If you choose Passport, also select your nationality.
Complete the captcha if shown, then click Search.
Your legal status and eligibility result will be displayed on the next page.

Result & next actions

Eligible: You meet the criteria to register or continue. Follow any on-screen instructions, or contact LMRA via [email protected] if you need help.
Not eligible: Review the reason provided (if any) and contact LMRA or your employer / PRO for guidance via [email protected].
No record found: Check that you selected the correct ID type and that the numbers match your documents.

Frequently Asked Questions

Can I check a family member’s residency?

Yes, if you have their accurate details. You can query the Residency e-Services portal by their CPR or passport details using the “Specific Residency” option.

I don’t have my application reference number. What now?

Contact NPRA directly. Reach out via the NPRA Contact Us page, by emailing [email protected], or via the Tawasul system.

My details changed (new passport). How do I update records?

Update via the relevant portal or contact NPRA. NPRA offers an “Information update” service for residents, and you can also raise a request via the Tawasul app.

Does LMRA show my employer’s details?
