Do UAE residents need an Egypt visa?

Whether UAE residents require an Egypt visa depends on their nationality. The government of Egypt allows citizens of GCC countries, including the UAE, to enter without a visa. However, UAE residents of other nationalities may need to obtain an Egypt e-visa to visit the country.

Egypt visa-free entry for UAE residents

UAE residents who hold passports from the following countries can enter Egypt without a visa:

  • Bahrain
  • Hong Kong
  • Kuwait
  • Lebanon
  • Macao
  • Oman
  • Saudi Arabia
  • UAE

Visitors from these countries can stay in Egypt for a maximum of 90 days, except for Malaysian citizens, who can only stay for up to 14 days without a visa. All visitors must have a valid passport that is valid for at least six months to be granted entry at the point of entry.

If they wish to stay longer, UAE residents can apply for an Egypt e-visa.

Egypt e-visa for UAE residents

Egypt tourist visa is required for UAE residents who are not citizens of the countries listed above or for those who are eligible for visa-free entry but wish to stay longer than the permitted duration. The visa can be applied for online through the Egyptian e-visa website.

General requirements

Egypt e-visa applicants must possess the following:

  • a passport valid for at least 6 months
  • a copy of the passport photo page
  • a filled application form
  • a debit or credit card

Online application process

The process of applying for an Egypt e-visa is quite simple and straightforward. Please consult the following:

  • visit the Egyptian e-visa website
  • sign up for an account
  • sign in with your email address and password
  • fill out the application form
  • pay the fee by using a Visa card, MasterCard, or other debit cards
  • receive confirmation email

Please note that applicants are required to apply for the visa at least 7 days prior to their departure.

Validity, processing time & price

The validity of an Egypt tourist visa depends on the type of visa that UAE residents apply for. There are two types of tourist visas currently available:

  • single-entry tourist visa (valid for 30 days)
  • multiple-entry tourist visa (valid for 180 days, with a maximum stay of 30 days per visit)

Once the application is submitted, it generally takes five business days to process the e-visa issuance. However, applicants are advised to apply for the visa at least one week before their departure.

The cost of Egypt tourist visas is as follows:

  • single-entry tourist visa – AED 92 (USD 25)
  • multiple-entry tourist visa – AED 220 (USD 60)
