The Federal Authority of Identity and Citizenship (ICA) is committed to facilitating citizens, returning residents, and tourists looking to visit the UAE through its ICA Smart Services program. The services offered by the ICA include essentials such as visa status checks, visa extensions, visa application tracking, and more.

The ICA Smart Services are available through their Smart Channels, and the e-services can be accessed online 24/7.

Please note: ICA Smart Services now operates as ICP Smart Services, and can be accessed via the website icp.gov.ae

ICA visa application status check

In case of applying for an entry permit or residence visa to Abu Dhabi, Sharjah, Ajman, Umm Al Quwain, Ras Al Khaimah and Fujairah, you can check the status and validity period of your visa on the Federal Authority for Identity and Citizenship – ICA website, using your passport number and passport expiry date.

You can also contact the ICP at their toll-free number 600522222, for any inquiry regarding visa issuance, types and validity period.

To check the status of your entry permit or residence visa, follow the steps given below:

Please note that you will need to visit the General Directorate of Residency and Foreigners Affairs (GDRFA) website to check your visa status and validity period for Dubai. Users can enquire about the status of GDRFA service through the DubaiNow app.

ICA visa validity check

Here is an easy guide to checking your visa status with your passport number through ICA. This process is applicable only if your visa has been issued in Abu-Dhabi, Sharjah, Umm Al Quwain, Ras Al Khaimah, Fujairah or Ajman:

ICA visa tracking

In case of applying for a visa to Abu Dhabi, Sharjah, Ajman, Umm Al Quwain, Ras Al Khaimah and Fujairah, you can track your visa application on the Federal Authority for Identity and Citizenship website.

To track your visa application, follow the steps given below:

Please note that if you have applied for a visa in Dubai or through Amer centres in Dubai, you can track your visa application through the General Directorate of Residency and Foreigners Affairs-Dubai. or the DubaiNow app.

ICA visa services

The ICA Smart Services provide UAE and foreign nationals a centralized portal from which they may access various services pertaining to visa inquiries, permit inquiries, payment of fees and fines and personal information updates. ICA smart services are available through their Smart Channels and the E-services can be accessed online 24/7.

The system provides a range of services for individuals according to each category, as follows:

  1. Citizens: Individual citizens can apply for services related to citizens (passport services, family book services, Emirates ID services) and services for the sponsored.
  2. UAE Residents: Individual residents can apply for services of the Federal Authority for Identity and Citizenship, such as visa, residency and Emirates ID services, for themselves and their sponsors.
  3. GCC Citizens: GCC citizens can apply for services related to their sponsor in addition to the services of the Emirates ID.
  4. Visitors: Visitors can apply for services related to entry visas to the country by category and manage the visa after its issuance.

You can also access these services via mobile applications, available both on iOS and Android.

ICA visa extension

Extending the validity of your visa is a simple process and can be completed online. If you are on a visit and wish to apply for an extension of your visa, you can follow the steps mentioned below:

  • create an online account with ICA
  • select the service for ‘Extending visa’
  • pay the service fees as per the type of visa you have applied for and the duration of its extension

ICA visa cancellation

If you’re looking to cancel your UAE residence visa, you can do so by either visiting a registered typing centre or applying online.

Registered typing centre

Your sponsor is able to visit any typing office registered by GDRFA in the respective emirate. The typing centre will fill out the cancellation form on your behalf and process it online through the respective GDRFA.

Online

Your sponsor may also process the cancellation online through the GDRFA online portal or through the ICA Smart Services platform.

Please note that the grace period for a cancelled or expired visa is now 6 months, as per the latest announcement by the ICA.

ICA UAE visa fine check

You can check and pay the overstay UAE residence visa or visit visa fine from the Federal Authority for Identity and Citizenship – ICA website.

To check and pay for your UAE visa overstay fines, follow the steps given below:

  • Visit the Federal Authority for Identity and Citizenship – ICA website.
  • Click on ‘Citizens of Certain Countries’
  • Enter your passport number, date of birth and current nationality.
  • Check the captcha checkbox and click search.
  • You will now be able to review the amount of overstay fine you need to pay under your visa.
  • Enter the personal details of your sponsor in the UAE.
  • Enter the fine details.
  • Click on ‘Next’.
  • You will now be asked to provide a mobile number for the OTP, and your bank details to pay for the overstay fine.
  • Click on ‘Submit’ to complete the process.

Please note that ICA charges an additional fee of AED 22 for overstaying fines, and the E-services fee is 28 AED. Furthermore, the service fee might vary depending on the data entered in the application.

ICA visa overstay fine

In the case of UAE residents, they have a six-month grace period after visa expiry or cancellation to either amend their status and get another residence visa or leave the country. Fines do not apply during the grace period.

If they overstay after the grace period, they will be fined with

  • AED 125 for the first day
  • AED 25 for each subsequent day.
  • AED 50 per day after six months of overstaying
  • AED 100 per day after one year of overstaying

Please note that ICA charges an additional fee of AED 22 for overstaying fines, and the E-services fee is 28 AED.
