What is Saudi eVisa waiver?

The Electronic Visa Waiver has been introduced by the Saudi Arabian Foreign Ministry specifically for individuals from the United Kingdom. This waiver frees up British citizens from applying for visa to Saudi Arabia for various purposes, including tourism, business, education, or medical reasons, and allows them to enjoy a maximum stay of six months on a single entry.

Although initially designed exclusively for UK citizens, there is potential for this convenient visa waiver program to be expanded to include other nations in the coming days.

Earlier Saudi Arabia has also announced simplified entry permit process for holders of UK, US, and Schengen visas, along with permanent residents of the UK, US, and any EU country.

Saudi eVisa waiver application process

Getting your eVisa waiver for Saudi Arabia is a simple and hassle-free process. Here’s what eligible UK applicants need to do:

  1. access the Ministry’s Visas Portal
  2. under the visa platform, select “Services for Visitors.”
  3. click on “Electronic Visa Waiver” and choose “Apply”
  4. register or log in to your account
  5. click on “Electronic visa waiver”
  6. you will then see an agreement; carefully read and accept the Electronic Visa Exemption Agreement.
  7. review and accept the terms and conditions.
  8. fill out the required details, including visa data and personal information, and upload a photo with a white background.
  9. click on “Save” to submit your application.

Eligible travelers can send waiver requests between 90 days and 48 hours before their travel date. After submitting the request, you can expect approval in your email within 24 hours. Obtaining an electronic visa exemption differs from regular visas, as visiting a visa application center is unnecessary.

Saudi eVisa waiver eligibility

Currently, the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia offers an eVisa waiver program for eligible UK citizens intending to visit the country for specific purposes. The eVisa waiver is applicable for the following purposes:

  • business: UK citizens planning to engage in business-related activities, such as attending meetings, conferences, exhibitions, or exploring investment opportunities.
  • tourism: UK tourists seeking to explore the rich cultural heritage, historical landmarks, and natural wonders of Saudi Arabia.
  • study: UK students who have been accepted into recognized educational institutions in Saudi Arabia.
  • treatment: UK citizens seeking medical treatment or medical tourism in Saudi Arabia.

Meanwhile, the EVW cannot be used for the purpose of work and pilgrimage.

While there have been no official announcements regarding specific requirements, it is essential to be prepared when submitting the online form for the Saudi eVisa waiver. As part of the application process, you can expect to be asked for the following requirements:

  • passport-sized photo with a white background
  • a valid passport
  • email address to receive notification approval

Saudi eVisa waiver validity

The eVisa waiver for Saudi Arabia is valid for a single entry only, allowing you to stay in the Kingdom for up to 6 months during your visit. Keep in mind that this exemption applies solely to a single visit. Hence, you must obtain a new exemption whenever you wish to travel to the Kingdom again.
