Ever since rolling out the nationwide COVID-19 vaccination drive in last December, Bahrain has administered over millions of doses to date. The country has so far approved six Covid vaccines: Pfizer/BioNTech, Sputnik V, Sputnik-Light, Johnson & Johnson, Oxford/AstraZeneca, and Sinopharm.

With more and more Bahrainis looking to get themselves fully inoculated, here we share everything you need to know about vaccine registration in Bahrain, how to register for the vaccine, which groups are being prioritized and how much getting yourself vaccinated costs.

Am I eligible for the vaccine?

The national COVID-19 immunization program is now open to everyone aged 18 and above in Bahrain.

Those in the age group of 12-17 will also be able to get inoculated soon, but only with the Pfizer/BioNTech vaccine. Their guardian must give consent and should be present at the time of vaccination appointment.

Bahrain has also started administering booster shots of the Sinopharm and Pfizer vaccines to further build up the immunity of citizens. To be eligible for these shots, you must have completed 6 months after receiving the second dose and be in any one of the following high-priority groups:

  • People aged 50 years old or above
  • Healthcare workers
  • People with comorbidities
  • Immunocompromised people
  • Morbidly obese people

You’ll have to carry proof of being from the high-risk group when attending your appointment. An assessment will also be conducted by a physician at the vaccination center to confirm your eligibility for a booster dose.

How do I register for the vaccine in Bahrain?

Through the website

The Bahraini Ministry of Health has set up an online portal for vaccine registration on their official COVID-19 awareness website – healthalert.gov.bh. The portal also shows the estimated time to get an appointment for each of the vaccine.

  • Click on the blue “Registration for Coronavirus (COVID-19) Vaccine” button.
  • Make sure the “Registration for a First Dose” option is selected below “Registration Options”.
  • Click on the “Which vaccine are interested in registering for?” dropdown and select the vaccine you’d like to receive.
  • Enter your ID number, block number and CPR expiry date.

You can then proceed to determine the vaccination centre, date and time. You’ll receive an SMS with appointment details.

Through the app

Appointments for COVID-19 vaccination can also be booked through the BeAware Bahrain mobile app. The app is available for download on both, Google Play and iOS App Store.

  • Open the app and click on the “eServices” tab at the bottom of the page.
  • Choose the first option, “Registration for Coronavirus Vaccine”.
  • Under the “Registration Options”, go for “Registration for First Dose” and select the vaccine you’d like to receive.
  • Supply the personal and medical information as is asked.

You can then proceed to determine the vaccination centre, date and time. You’ll receive an SMS with appointment details.

For the booster dose

The registration process remains the same for booster shots of Pfizer and Sinopharm vaccines, except that you’ll have to click on the “Registration for Booster Doses” under “Registration Options”.

How much will it cost?

The Bahrain government is providing the COVID-19 vaccines free of cost to all citizens and residents.
