More and more countries are now easing their COVID-19 restrictions and opening to visitors. International travellers, too, are now dusting off their passports and looking forward to jet-set once again. However, the one headache that still remains in many destinations, is a visa.
If you want to avoid the hassle and want to go touring visa-free, here’s a list of countries that don’t require pre-arrival visas from Indians.
What is Visa on Arrival?
Visa on arrival simply means you’ll be granted a visa for a particular country after you arrive in that country, at the first port of entry.
If the thought of travelling internationally makes you anxious about tedious visa formalities and procedures, the following list of countries will make some of the best travel destinations for you.
As per their norms for travellers from India, you can book your tickets and fly to these nations visa-free!
List of countries offering visa on arrival for Indians
Indian citizens do not require a visa to enter Bhutan for tourism purposes. Indians travelling by air will be issued a free Entry Permit upon arrival in Bhutan.
Indian nationals who wish to drive their cars to Bhutan are required to obtain a “Route Permit” from the Road Safety and Transport Authority office in Bhutan after obtaining the entry permit from the Department of Immigration.
Indian citizens can get a Cambodia Visa on Arrival and are permitted to stay for a maximum of 30 days, provided that they are holding a valid passport along with their confirmed return flight tickets and a few other documents.
The visa fee is USD 20.
Indonesia is a visa-free country so no visa is required for Indian citizens travelling for less than 30 days. You just need to get a visa exemption stamp from the Immigration counter. This is available free of cost.
If your travel duration is more than 30 days, you can apply for the visa on arrival when you enter Indonesia for IDR 500,000.
Jordan visa can be obtained upon arrival, it will cost a total of JOD 40.
Indian nationals do not need to apply for a Laos visa in advance. They can get a visa upon arrival in Laos provided they have valid travel documents.
Laos Visa on arrival is issued for 30 days. All visitors must hold a passport that is valid for at least six months from the time of entry into Laos.
Indians travelling to Macau for a span of less than 30 days do not require a visa to enter the country. Visitors must ensure that their passport is valid for at least 6 months from the date of their visit to Macau to enjoy visa-free entry to the country.
Indian citizens wishing to extend their trip for longer than 30 days are eligible for visa on arrival for MOP$100 (individual visa), MOP$200 (family visa), or MOP$50 (group visa).
Indian nationals visiting the Maldives as tourists do not require any pre-arrival visa. A free Maldives Tourist Visa which is valid for approximately ninety days is issued to Indian nationals on arriving at the Male airport.
Since Indian travellers do not require a visa to travel to Nepal, the visa on arrival is redundant.
Indians can simply enter Nepal with their passport or other applicable documents, be it at the immigration centre at Kathmandu airport or elsewhere.
Indian passport holders are eligible for a Sri Lanka visa on arrival. However, to obtain the document, you need to apply for a Sri Lanka ETA before you leave for Sri Lanka.
An ETA is a digital form of travel authorization that allows the holder to visit Sri Lanka for the purposes of tourism, business, or transit. An ETA for tourism is a double-entry travel authorization that allows the visitor to stay for a maximum of 30 in Sri Lanka from the date of arrival.
Visa on arrival in Thailand is available for Indian citizens, but it is given only if the visit is strictly for tourism purposes and the passport is genuine and valid for at least 30 days.
The price of the visa is THB 2000 and you need to pay it at the service counter at the immigration checkpoint.
Timor Leste tourist visa is required for citizens of India. Nationals of India can obtain a single entry visa on arrival, for a maximum stay of 30 days.
Indian citizens need a visa to travel to Cape Verde. They may obtain a visa on arrival at Sal, Boa Vista, São Vicente or Santiago international airports, provided they have the valid travel documents. The visa application is done when your flight lands in Cape Verde.
Foreign nationals of any country do not need to apply for a Comoros visa in advance. They can get a Comoros visa upon arrival in Comoros provided they have valid travel documents.
Indian Passport holders can also get a Tourist Visa for 30 days on arrival at an Ethiopian Airport. The Visa fee to be paid is USD 20.
The applicant’s passport should be valid for 6 months from the date of issuance of the visa.
Indian nationals require a visa to enter Guinea-Bissau. There are two ways to apply for a Guinea-Bissau visa: on arrival at Guinea-Bissau International Airport or on the Electronic Visa Application website.
The visa on arrival can be obtained from the Border Control checkpoint at Osvaldo Vieira International Airport.
Visa On Arrival is available for Indians at the airport on payment of USD 50.
Passengers should have confirmed return tickets and Yellow Fever Certificate along with other travel documents. The applicant should have a passport valid for at least 6 months from the date of application for the visa.
For short visits (90 days or less), every visitor, regardless of nationality, can obtain a visa upon arrival at the airport in Antananarivo. A Madagascar visa for Indians can be private, tourist, business and work – depending on the purpose of a visit.
The visitor’s passport is valid for at least 6 months beyond the last day of the intended stay in Madagascar, return flight tickets and sufficient funds for the entire duration of the trip.
Indian Nationals do not need to apply for a Mauritius visa in advance. They can get a Mauritius visa upon arrival at Mauritius International Airport provided they have valid travel documents.
Visa on arrival is issued for a stay of up to 60 days with a single entry facility only.
Indian citizens do not require a visa to enter Seychelles for a short stay. A visitor’s permit is issued on arrival in Seychelles to travelers visiting for the purposes of holiday, business, visiting friends or family.
Indian passport holders can request a visa on arrival if they have not had the time to apply for an eVisa before their visit.
Nevertheless, they must consider that this option entails having to queue sometimes for long hours once they reach after a long intercontinental flight. The eVisa for Tanzania is regarded as the more convenient and accessible option for Indian tourists.
Indians are eligible for a Bolivia visa on arrival. It costs US$ 60 and you can get it on arrival only at La Paz or Santacruz Airport, the service is not available at all Bolivia airports.
Indian citizens do not require a visa to enter Dominica for a short stay if the purpose of the visit is tourism, visit or business.
Visitors are also required to hold a valid passport, proof of sufficient funds to cover their stay, accommodation proof and return flight tickets to their home country.
If you are a citizen of India and want to visit Ecuador, then you don’t need a visa in advance.
In order to get a visa on arrival, the traveller should have financial documents, a passport with validity of 6 months and two blank pages, a return ticket, and travel insurance.
North and Central America
Foreign nationals of any country do not need to apply for a Grenada visa in advance. They can get a Grenada visa upon arrival in Grenada provided they have valid travel documents.
Indian citizens do not require a visa to enter Haiti for a short stay, if the purpose of visit is tourism, visit or business.
All Indian passport holders travelling to Haiti must pay a tourist fee set at USD 10 at the airport.
Jamaica tourist visa is not required for citizens of India for a stay up to 14 days.
Montserrat tourist visa is not required for citizens of India for a stay up to 30 days.
Saint Kitts and Nevis
Indian citizens do not require a visa to enter Saint Kitts & Nevis for a short stay if the purpose of visit is tourism, visit or business.
You can stay in Saint Kitts & Nevis for up to 3 months without requiring a visa.
Indian nationals can obtain a visa on arrival in St. Lucia valid for 6 weeks.
Saint Vincent and the Grenadines
Indian citizens do not require a visa to enter Saint Vincent and the Grenadines for a short stay, if the purpose of visit is tourism, visit or business.
Visitors are required to hold valid passport, proof of sufficient funds to cover their stay, accommodation proof and return flight tickets to their home country.
Trinidad & Tobago
Indian citizens do not require a visa to enter Trinidad and Tobago if the purpose of visit is tourism, visit or business.
However, Indians wishing to stay in Trinidad & Tobago for more than 90 days will need to apply for the Trinidad & Tobago Visa online before travel.
All visitors wishing to visit the Cook Islands will be issued a visitors permit on arrival into the Cook Islands, provided they have a passport valid for a period of at least 6 months beyond their intended period of stay in the Cook Islands, have evidence of a valid outbound ticket or return ticket to their port of origin, and proof of accommodation during their stay.
Indians are eligible for Fiji visa on arrival. Furthermore, Indian citizens do not require a visa if the duration of the intended stay does not exceed 12 days.
Indian citizens do not require a visa to enter Micronesia for a short stay if the purpose of visit is tourism, visit or business.
You can stay in Micronesia for up to 30 days without requiring a visa.
Niue tourist visa is not required for citizens of India for a stay up to 30 days.
Palau tourist visa is required for citizens of India. Nationals of India can obtain a visa on arrival for a maximum stay of 30 days.
Indians Visitors to Samoa can apply for a 60-day Visitor Permit on arrival. A visitor’s permit is issued on arrival for the purposes of holiday, business, visiting friends or family.
Nationals of India can obtain a visa on arrival for a maximum stay of 1 month, provided they hold confirmed return/onward tickets and sufficient funds for maintenance.
