More and more countries are now easing their COVID-19 restrictions and opening to visitors. International travellers, too, are now dusting off their passports and looking forward to jet-set once again. However, the one headache that still remains in many destinations is a visa.

If you want to avoid the hassle and want to go touring visa-free, here’s a list of countries that don’t require pre-arrival visas from Indians.

What is a visa on arrival?

A visa on arrival simply means you’ll be granted a visa for a particular country after you arrive in that country at the first port of entry.

If the thought of travelling internationally makes you anxious about tedious visa formalities and procedures, the following list of countries will make some of the best travel destinations for you.

List of countries offering visa-on-arrival for Indians

Given below is a list of countries that offer visa-on-arrival for Indian citizens:

Asia

Cambodia

Indian citizens can get a Cambodia Visa on Arrival and are permitted to stay for a maximum of 30 days, provided that they hold a valid passport along with their confirmed return flight tickets and a few other documents.

The visa fee is USD 36.

Jordan

Jordan visa can be obtained upon arrival with a validity of up to 30 days. They must purchase the Jordan Pass to get the visa.

Laos

Indian nationals do not need to apply for a Laos visa in advance. They can get a visa upon arrival in Laos from Luang Prabang, Pakse, Savannakhet, and Vientiane international airports.

Laos Visa on arrival is issued for 30 days which can be extended for up to 60 days. All visitors must hold a passport that is valid for at least six months from the time of entry into Laos.

Maldives

Indian nationals visiting the Maldives as tourists do not require any pre-arrival visa. A free Maldives Tourist Visa which is valid for approximately ninety days, is issued to Indian nationals upon arriving at the Male airport.

Myanmar

Indian citizens travelling to Myanmar can get a visa on arrival, valid for a stay of up to 30 days, from the specific entry checkpoints at the Yangon International Airport, Mandalay International Airport and the Nap Pyi Taw International Airport.

Sri Lanka

Indian passport holders are eligible for a Sri Lanka visa on arrival. However, to obtain the document, you need to apply for a Sri Lanka ETA before you leave for Sri Lanka.

An ETA is a digital form of travel authorization that allows the holder to visit Sri Lanka for the purposes of tourism, business, or transit. An ETA for tourism is a double-entry travel authorization that allows the visitor to stay for a maximum of 30 in Sri Lanka from the date of arrival.

Thailand

Visa on arrival in Thailand is available for Indian citizens with a validity of 15 days.

The price of the visa is THB 2000, and you need to pay it at the service counter at the immigration checkpoint.

Timor Leste

Timor Leste tourist visa is required for citizens of India. Nationals of India can obtain a single entry visa on arrival by paying USD 30 for a maximum stay of 30 days. They can extend the visa for another 30 days by paying USD 40.

Africa

Cape Verde

Indian citizens need a visa to travel to Cape Verde. They may obtain a visa on arrival at Sal, Boa Vista, São Vicente or Santiago international airports, provided they have valid travel documents. The validity of the visa is 30 days. The visa application is made when your flight lands in Cape Verde.

The Cameroon Union Republic

With a valid passport and accompanying travel documents, you can receive a visa on arrival for Cameroon, which has a single entry restriction and a maximum validity period of 45 days.

Gabon

Indian nationals can also obtain a one-month eVisa or Visa on Arrival. They must arrive at Libreville International Airport to get it.

Guinea-Bissau

Indian nationals require a visa to enter Guinea-Bissau. There are two ways to apply for a Guinea-Bissau visa: on arrival at Guinea-Bissau International Airport or on the Electronic Visa Application website.

The visa on arrival can be obtained from the Border Control checkpoint at Osvaldo Vieira International Airport. The visa is valid for a maximum of 90 days.

Guyana

Indian citizens are eligible to apply for a visa on arrival if they have a letter of invitation from a resident of the country.

Madagascar

For short visits (30 days or less), every visitor, regardless of nationality, can obtain a visa upon arrival at the airport in Antananarivo. A Madagascar visa for Indians can be private, tourist, business and work – depending on the purpose of a visit.

The visitor’s passport is valid for at least 6 months beyond the last day of the intended stay in Madagascar, return flight tickets and sufficient funds for the entire duration of the trip.

Mauritania

Indian nationals can get a visa on arrival for travelling to Mauritania at the Nouakchott International Airport, provided they have valid travel documents. Visas issued at Nouakchott airport are for a single entry and have a validity of 30 days.

Mozambique

Indian nationals need a printed confirmation from the Immigration Authority (SENAMI) Headquarters in Maputo in order to obtain a visa on arrival. This document must state that the arrival visa has been authorized.

Rwanda

Indian citizens can obtain a visa on arrival to Rwanda for a stay of up to 30 days.

Seychelles

Indian citizens do not require a visa to enter Seychelles for a short stay. A visitor’s permit is issued on arrival in Seychelles to travellers visiting for the purposes of the holiday, business, or visiting friends or family. The VOA can be valid for a maximum of 3 months.

Sierra Leone

Travellers from India can obtain a visa on arrival from Freetown International Airport, Lungi Jendema, and Gbalamuya. They must pay USD 80 for a visa that is valid for 30 days. They can extend their staying period from within the country.

Somalia

Indian citizens can obtain a Somalia visa on arrival for a maximum stay of 1 month in the country, provided they have all the required documents to apply for the visa.

South America

Bolivia

Indians are eligible for a Bolivia visa on arrival with a validity of up to 90 days. It costs US$ 60, and you can get it on arrival only at La Paz or Santacruz Airport. The service is not available at all Bolivia airports.

North and Central America

Saint Lucia

Indian nationals can obtain a single entry visa on arrival in St. Lucia, valid for 3 months, by paying USD 46.25.

Oceania

Palau

A Palau tourist visa is required for citizens of India. Nationals of India can obtain a visa on arrival for a maximum stay of 30 days. The visa can be extended for 2 weeks at the cost of USD 50.

Republic of Marshall Islands

Arrivals from India looking to visit the Republic of Marshall Islands can get a visa on arrival for a maximum of 30 days which can be extended for up to 60 days, provided they have all the required documents in hand.

Samoa

Indians Visitors to Samoa can apply for a 60-day Visitor Permit on arrival. A visitor’s permit is issued on arrival for the purposes of the holiday, business, or visiting friends or family.

Tuvalu

Nationals of India can obtain a visa on arrival for a maximum stay of 1 month, provided they hold confirmed return/onward tickets and sufficient funds for maintenance.
