Ok, ok we know… it’s Valentine’s Day tomorrow! While we love the idea of love, and celebrate the romance of travel, love on the road and even admit to adding Verona to our bucket list after watching ‘Letters to Juliet’, we also spare a thought for those singles out there who feel somewhat disillusioned with the idea of spending such a day alone.

But fear not! Valentine’s Day can be a brilliant day to be single, celebrate your freedom and even, who knows, meet a special someone. You can’t ask for a better anniversary now, can you?

So stop scowling at the flower delivery man in your office, and plan for one of these great Anti-Valentine’s Day parties around the world instead!

London – Head down to the Funky Buddha in Mayfair for an epic party where ladies wear locks and gents are given keys. There’s even a Kissing Booth so you can capture a special moment.

Sydney – Couldn’t get a more romantic spot overlooking Sydney Harbour than the ECQ Bar at the Pullman Quay Grand. Delicious cocktails, great menu and live entertainment result in a sophisticated single’s night, with a perfect backdrop for those photos.

Or try The Village at Potts Point where a special guest DJ will rock the night with dedicated anti Valentine’s Day tunes such as ‘Love Stinks’, ‘I’m through with love’, ‘Single Ladies’, and ‘I’m Free’.

Brisbane – Birdees in Fortitude Valley promises to ‘unite the single, heart broken and lonely’, and Zuri is pumping out great music along with all-you-can eat Kaiseki (Japanese tapas). Delicious food always helps right?

Singapore – Singles at Wego‘s head-office are seriously excited about a night at Chijmes on February 14 where hearts will be buzzing at the ‘V for Vendetta‘ party. In the lovely outdoor area of Club LAVA an evening of fun and excitement awaits with a scrumptious BBQ, games and prizes, and perhaps true love… All the cool single people in Singapore will be there, which naturally includes us!

Hong Kong – At the Renaissance Harbour View Hotel in Wan Chai, groove with some very chic singletons at the Singleton Valentin’s RLife LIVE Party. If that’s not your style check out the top 6 new bars and clubs that have opened recently and keep a scout out for singles, share a cup of bitterness and meet the person of your dreams.

Or throw away the roses and console yourself by helping others. V-Day at Bisous will be raising money to help end violence against women and girls. You may even meet a like-minded single that’s perfect for you.

If you can’t catch an anti-Valentine’s Day party may we suggest you forget about the dinners, chocolates and jewels and catch a spontaneous flight to Bali, or Boracay, or Tahiti… after all, the real romance is in the adventure, don’t you agree?
