What is the free Saudi transit visa?
The free Saudi transit visa (تأشيرة المرور للزيارة) is an electronic visa introduced as part of the Saudi Vision 2030 that allows international passengers to make a 96-hour stop in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia.
Aside from the privileges of traveling anywhere within Saudi Arabia, free Saudi transit visa holders are also permitted to visit Makkah and Madinah and perform the holy rituals of Hajj and Umrah. Those who wish to participate are advised to secure their permits through the Nusuk app.

How to apply for the free Saudi transit visa?
Requirements
To apply for the free Saudi transit visa, it is essential to prepare and submit all of the following required documents:
- A passport valid for at least six (6) months
- Confirmed travel ticket to intended flight destination
- Entry visa or residence permit (if the applicant is not a citizen or is not eligible for visa exemption.)
- Personal photos (200×200) with a 20kb file size.
Application process
The applications for the free Saudi transit visa will have to be made directly through the official websites of Saudia and Flynas Airlines, not more than 90 days from your intended date of departure. Please note that flights booked must have a 4-day gap to allow stopover passengers to explore the Kingdom despite the short-term visit.
To proceed with your application, follow the steps below:
- Book your flights directly through the official airline websites of official websites of Saudia and Flynas
- Fill out the application form with the required information and insert your personal photo according to the proper format.
- Pay the application fees.
- The visa will be issued to your email upon review by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
Cost
The Saudi transit visa is available free of cost to travelers booking flights to the Kingdom. However, administrative charges and medical insurance fees are must be paid by the applicant, with prices starting at SAR39.50 (USD 10.50) and SAR13 (USD 3.45) respectively.
Validity
The free Saudi transit visa will remain valid for 3 months, allowing stopover passengers to stay and explore the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia for up to 96 hours.
