Singapore Airlines is known for its award-winning service and high-quality products. But what if you want to enjoy a more comfortable and exclusive experience without breaking the bank? That’s where the Premium Economy Class comes in.

In this article, Wego will review the features and benefits of flying in Premium Economy Class with Singapore Airlines and determine whether the upgrade is worth it.

Singapore Airlines Premium Economy overview

Premium Economy Class is a cabin class that offers more space, more choices, and more privileges than the regular Economy Class. It is available on selected flights operated by Singapore Airlines’ Airbus A350, A380, and Boeing 777-300ER aircraft. Consider Singapore Airlines Premium Economy class if you want a more luxurious and exclusive flight experience without spending a fortune.

You can enjoy a premium dining experience with a pre-ordered main course from the Book the Cook service, an extensive and varied inflight entertainment system with an HD touchscreen monitor and access to the internet, and superior service throughout your flight with committed check-in counters and a convenience kit with this cabin class. Singapore Airlines’ Airbus A350, A380, and Boeing 777-300ER aircraft are available on a few flights in Premium Economy Class.

Singapore Airlines Premium Economy ticket price

The price of the Premium Economy class depends on factors such as the itinerary, travel dates, and seat availability. However, it typically offers a more budget-friendly option compared to Business Class or First Class.

In addition, a long-haul flight to Zurich is at USD 1,255 (CHF 1,145). Additionally, passengers benefit from complimentary seat selection or can pay an additional fee for extra legroom seats or solo seats on specific flights.

Singapore Airlines Premium Economy lounge access

Even though having a Premium Economy ticket doesn’t automatically grant you access to airport lounges, there are alternative ways to gain entry. Some airports may offer lounge access to passengers with Singapore Premium Economy tickets, but these opportunities are usually limited-time promotions that may not be valid during your travel period.

Here’s how you can secure lounge privileges with your Premium Economy:

Join KrisFlyer: When making your flight reservation, enroll in the KrisFlyer frequent flyer program in Singapore. Attaining Elite Gold status is necessary to enjoy lounge privileges through this program. When flying on a codeshare flight, the partnered airline might grant you access to the lounges using KrisFlyer. Achieving Elite Gold status requires accumulating 50,000 air miles.

Get an affiliate credit card: If you happen to be on a codeshare flight, exploring the lounge access options provided by the partnering airlines is advisable. Singapore Air is renowned for its exceptional lounge standards, but if you are a member of the award program associated with the other airline, you will be able to utilize their lounges as well.

Transfer air miles to KrisFlyer: It is possible to transfer reward points from various credit cards to your KrisFlyer account. Here are a few alternatives and the corresponding points transfer ratios:

Chase Ultimate Rewards: Transfer at a 1:1 ratio. American Express Membership Rewards: Transfer at a 1:1 ratio.

Capital One Miles: Transfer at a 2:1 ratio. Citi ThankYou Rewards: Transfer at a 1:1 ratio.

Singapore Airlines Premium Economy seats

Premium Economy Class offers a comfortable and stylish experience with its 24 seats arranged in a 2-4-2 configuration. The cabin features a grey color scheme accented with vibrant orange details, creating a visually appealing ambiance. A curtain separates This exclusive section from the Business and Economy cabins, providing a distinct and private atmosphere.

The well-designed Premium Economy seat is equipped with several features to enhance passenger comfort. It boasts a headrest with movable wings, allowing passengers to find the perfect position for optimal sleep. An adjustable personal reading light is also provided, ensuring passengers have ample illumination for reading or working. Furthermore, a built-in calf rest and a footrest beneath the seat in front add to the overall comfort and relaxation.

Passengers have convenient storage options. Belongings can be stored below the seat in front or within the magazine pocket. Additionally, a small mesh pocket located below the 13.3-inch HD touchscreen monitor provides a handy spot for keeping smaller items within reach.

For connectivity, the Premium Economy seats are equipped with USB ports. One USB port is conveniently positioned between the rear of the armrest seats, while another is on the monitor’s right side. Additionally, passengers can find a UK power socket near the leg area, enabling them to charge their electronic devices during the flight. Here’s where the Premium Economy seats are located in each fleet:

777-300ER: The Premium Economy cabin is located in Zone 3, behind the overwing set of doors. Lavatories are aft through the Economy cabin.
A350-900: The Premium Economy cabin is located in Zone 3, in the middle of the wing section. Lavatories are after through the Economy cabin.
A350-900ULR: The Premium Economy cabin is offered in lieu of Economy on this ultra-long-range aircraft, with 94 Premium Economy seats behind the Business Class cabin. The last three rows of window seats are single seats with direct aisle access.
A380: On most configurations, the Premium Economy cabin is in Zone 2 on the Main Deck, behind First Class. Lavatories are aft, through the Economy section. On some A380s, First Class is on the Upper Deck, and Premium Economy occupies Zone 1 on the Main Deck. Lavatories are at the aft of the Premium Economy cabin.

Singapore Airlines Premium Economy baggage allowance

The baggage allowance for Premium Economy passengers depends on the destination and the concept of your flight. There are two concepts: weight and piece.

Weight concept

This applies to flights to and from all destinations except Canada and the USA. Under this concept, your check-in baggage can weigh up to 35 kg. If you are traveling with an infant, you can check in an additional 10 kg of baggage, as well as a stroller or a car seat.

Piece concept

This applies to flights to and from Canada and the USA only. Under this concept, you can check in two pieces of baggage, each weighing up to 23 kg. The sum of the length, width, and height of each piece must not exceed 158 cm. If you are traveling with an infant, you can check in one additional piece of baggage weighing up to 23 kg, as well as a stroller or a car seat.

In both cases, your cabin baggage allowance is the same as that of Economy passengers: one bag weighing up to 7 kg. You can also bring one personal item, such as a laptop or a handbag.

Fees for excess baggage

If your baggage exceeds the allowance for your flight concept, you will have to pay extra fees. The fees vary depending on the destination and the weight or number of pieces of your excess baggage. Alternatively, you can pre-purchase extra baggage online at a discounted rate before your flight. You can do this through the Manage Booking section on the website or through the SingaporeAir mobile app.
