As is well-known, the Hajj pilgrimage is one of the five pillars of Islam. In addition to this Ibāda (act of worship), there is also the Umrah or the “minor Hajj,” which similarly necessitates Muslims to make their way to Saudi Arabia and complete a set of rituals. Every year, millions of pilgrims come to Saudi Arabia to perform Umrah, including the ones from Pakistan.

Below, we have gathered all the flight information for Pakistani pilgrims who wish to perform Umrah in a near future.

Can Pakistanis fly to Saudi Arabia for Umrah?

Pakistanis can go to Saudi Arabia for Umrah. Saudi Arabia is currently issuing permits to foreign pilgrims wishing to perform the Umrah, including the ones from Pakistan.

The Saudi government has also introduced the Umrah e-visa, which allows pilgrims to apply for the Umrah visa themselves as opposed to travel agents or tour operators. The new facility enables pilgrims to obtain the Umrah e-visa in just 24 hours and book their own flights and accommodations.

Moreover, the newly introduced Umrah e-visa allows holders to freely travel within the Kingdom, which means the new Umrah e-visa may also serve as a visit visa for Umrah or a tourist visa for Umrah.

Additionally, the Saudi government has also eased most COVID-related restrictions for international arrivals from essentially all countries including:

  • Pilgrims are no longer needed to present a PCR test upon arrival
  • Pilgrims no longer need to present proof of vaccination when issuing Umrah permit.
  • Unvaccinated pilgrims can perform Umrah as long as they are not infected with COVID-19 or in contact with people who are infected with COVID-19.
  • Children aged 5 and above can apply for an Umrah permit and pray at the Holy Rawdah.

However, travellers arriving on visit visas (including Umrah pilgrims) must have medical insurance to cover any COVID-19 related treatment costs during their stay.

What are the requirements of Umrah 2022?

There are two main requirements for people looking to perform the Umrah: an Umrah visa and permit.

The Ministry of Hajj and Umrah has announced the launch of an electronic service to apply for an Umrah visa for individual Umrah pilgrims from outside Saudi Arabia.

Pilgrims from America, Europe, and Australia can also register electronically for this year’s Hajj season via https://www.motawif.com.sa/home/en-sa. Applicants must ensure that they fulfil all the necessary conditions, including being fully vaccinated against coronavirus, under 65 years (i.e., born after 1-7-1957 A) and can present a pre-departure negative PCR test result.

In the article below, we have listed all the requirements and steps to obtain both requirements for Pakistani pilgrims. Check it out for more details.
