Umrah can be performed at any time of the year, and the package you pick decides your hotel, your flights and how close you sleep to the Haram. Here is what 2026 packages cost and how to book one.
1448 AH Umrah season status
The 1448 AH Umrah season is open to international pilgrims. Visa issuance resumed on 31 May 2026, and entry to Makkah has been permitted since 1 June 2026. The season runs until 7 April 2027, when all pilgrims must have departed.
For the full 1448 AH season calendar, see our Umrah 2026 application and registration guide.
What is included in an Umrah package?
A standard Umrah package bundles the key logistics of your pilgrimage into a single booking. Most packages include:
- Umrah visa processing
- Round-trip airfare (or overland transport for nearby countries like the UAE)
- Hotel accommodation in Makkah and Madinah
- Ground transportation between airports, hotels, and holy sites
- Meals (typically breakfast, lunch, and dinner)

Umrah visa and the Nusuk platform
All Umrah visa applications must now go through the Nusuk platform. This is mandatory regardless of your visa type.
Key requirements for Umrah visa in 2026
Before applying for your Umrah visa, you need confirmed bookings linked to Nusuk:
- A confirmed hotel reservation in Makkah, Madinah, or both through a Nusuk-approved hotel
- Pre-booked ground transport (airport transfers and inter-city travel)
- A Booking Reference Number (BRN) tied to the above bookings
Without these, your visa will not be approved and permits will not be issued. The Umrah eVisa is typically valid for 30 days from the date of issue.
Other visa options for Umrah
You don’t necessarily need a dedicated Umrah visa. Holders of any valid Saudi visa, including tourist visas, work visas, family visit visas and transit visas, can perform Umrah by booking a permit through the Nusuk app.
Saudi citizens can also invite friends to perform Umrah using a personal visit visa, which allows guests to enter Saudi Arabia, perform Umrah, visit the Prophet’s Mosque, and tour religious and historical sites.
For a detailed breakdown of visa fees, see our Umrah visa price 2026 guide. To learn how to apply, check the Umrah visa 2026 guide.
How to choose the right Umrah package
Booking online: You can book the whole trip on Wego, an official partner of the Saudi Ministry of Hajj and Umrah, with ministry-approved hotels and the eVisa in partnership with Nusuk.
Packages are supplied by licensed Umrah operators, so check the operator named on your booking against your own country’s register, and read what your tier includes, because transport is bundled on some tiers only. Here is the booking flow step by step.
Not all Umrah packages are the same. Here are the key factors to evaluate before booking.
Verify the travel agency
Only book through agencies approved by Saudi Arabia’s Ministry of Hajj and Umrah. You can verify any agency on the official Umrah electronic services page. Avoid agencies with no physical address or verifiable registration.
Check what is included
Some packages advertise low base prices but charge separately for visa processing, airport transfers, or meals. Before booking, confirm whether the package includes:
- Visa processing fees
- Round-trip airfare or transport
- All hotel nights in both Makkah and Madinah
- Airport-to-hotel and inter-city transfers
- Meals
- Guided Ziyarat
Check hotel location
Hotel proximity to the Haram matters significantly. A hotel listed as “near Haram” could be a 5-minute walk or a 20-minute shuttle ride. Always check the specific hotel name on a map before booking.
Book early for better rates
Booking 4 to 6 months in advance typically secures better hotel options and lower prices, especially during high-demand periods like Ramadan. Mid-week departures (Tuesday or Wednesday) tend to be cheaper than weekend flights.
Consider the time of year
Umrah during Ramadan carries special spiritual significance but comes with higher prices and larger crowds. Off-peak months (September to November) offer lower rates and a more peaceful experience.
Health and permit requirements
Before traveling for Umrah, you need to meet Saudi Arabia’s health and permit requirements.
The MenACWY (meningococcal) vaccine is mandatory for every pilgrim aged one year and above. Additional vaccinations may be required depending on your country of origin.
You also need an Umrah permit issued through the Nusuk platform. This is separate from your visa and must be secured before you travel. You can check your Umrah visa status online at any time.
Women traveling for Umrah without a male guardian (mahram) should review the updated rules in our Umrah without mahram guide. For a complete overview of pilgrimage rules, see our Hajj and Umrah rules guide.
