What Is the Bahrain e-Visa?
The Bahrain e-visa is an electronic visit visa issued by the Nationality, Passports and Residence Affairs (NPRA), part of the Ministry of Interior. It is applied for fully online through the official portal at evisa.gov.bh.
The e-visa replaces the need to visit a Bahraini embassy for most short stays. Once approved, it is linked electronically to your passport and checked by border officers when you arrive in Bahrain.
Who Needs a Bahrain e-Visa?
Citizens of the GCC countries (Kuwait, Oman, Qatar, Saudi Arabia and the UAE) do not need a visa and can enter with a national ID card.
Travelers from other countries need either an e-visa, a visa on arrival, or an advance visa through an embassy.
The e-visa portal currently covers more than 200 nationalities. Use the official eligibility list to confirm whether your nationality qualifies and which visa type you can apply for.
Types of Bahrain e-Visa
All Bahrain e-visas are issued through the same NPRA portal. The type you can apply for depends on your nationality, residence, and travel purpose.
Single-Entry e-Visa (Two Weeks): This is the most common option for first-time tourists. It allows one entry into Bahrain with a stay of up to two weeks. The visa must be used within 90 days of approval.
Three-Month Multiple-Entry e-Visa: Valid for three months from the date of issue, this visa permits multiple entries with a stay of up to one month per visit. It suits frequent business travellers and those with relatives in Bahrain.
One-Year Multiple-Entry e-Visa: This visa is valid for one year and allows multiple entries with stays of up to 90 days per visit. It is widely used by business travellers and tourists planning repeat trips to Bahrain.
Five-Year Multiple-Entry e-Visa: Valid for five years, this visa allows multiple entries with up to 90 days of stay per visit.
Eligibility is restricted to selected nationalities. Check the official portal to confirm whether your nationality qualifies.
Ten-Year Multiple-Entry e-Visa (US Citizens): Bahrain offers a 10-year multiple-entry e-visa exclusively to US citizens under a reciprocal agreement introduced in October 2020.
Each visit can last up to 90 days. The visa issuance fee is 60 BHD, plus the standard 4 BHD application fee, for a total of 64 BHD (around 170 USD).
GCC Residents e-Visa
Expats living in Kuwait, Oman, Qatar, Saudi Arabia or the UAE can apply for a special GCC residents e-visa.
To qualify, your residence permit must be valid for at least three more months and your occupation must not be classified as labourer.

The fees below are the official NPRA charges in Bahraini Dinars (BHD). All amounts shown are the total of the 4 BHD non-refundable application fee plus the visa issuance fee. Approximate USD values are based on the pegged rate of 1 BHD ≈ 2.65 USD.

The application fee is non-refundable if your visa is rejected. Check refund eligibility for any other paid fees directly with NPRA.
Documents and Conditions
Before you apply, make sure you meet the basic conditions. Your passport must be valid for at least six months from your date of arrival in Bahrain, and you must be outside the Kingdom when you apply.
Documents You Need to Upload
- Clear scan of your passport bio page
- Confirmed return or onward air ticket
- Hotel booking in Bahrain, or a copy of your host’s Bahraini ID printout if staying with family or friends
- Bank statement covering the last three months showing a regular income of at least 1,000 USD
Other Conditions
You must hold a valid passport (not another travel document) and a confirmed onward ticket. You also need to show you can support yourself and any dependents during your stay.
You cannot work in Bahrain on a visit visa, paid or unpaid. You also cannot hold more than one Bahrain visa on the same passport at the same time.
How to Apply for the Bahrain e-Visa
The full application is done online at evisa.gov.bh. NPRA’s e-visa FAQ says application approval takes approximately 3 to 5 working days, while some individual service pages list issuance as 1 working day.
- Visit evisa.gov.bh and click Apply & Eligibility.
- Enter your country of residence, nationality and purpose of visit.
- Complete the captcha. The system will show the visa types you are eligible for.
- Fill in your personal details and upload the required documents.
- Pay the application and visa fees online by card.
- Wait for the approval email. Use the application reference number on the portal under Pay for Application to retrieve your e-visa.
Once approved, you can print your e-visa or save it on your phone. Border officers will also see your visa electronically when they scan your passport on arrival.
If your application is rejected, contact NPRA or the nearest Bahraini embassy for clarification. The processing fee is not refundable in case of rejection.
Checking Your Bahrain e-Visa Status
You can track your application at any time on the same NPRA portal. Have your passport details and application reference number ready.
- Go to the visa status check page on evisa.gov.bh.
- Enter your passport number, nationality and date of birth.
- Add the application reference number you received when you applied.
- Click Submit to see your current status.
